Why no talk about this kid? Big arm great poise and command of the offense. I been watching his highlights on hudl and this kid is the real deal. That's a high powered passing attack. Good luck to that kid I see him playing on Saturdays and hell maybe even Sundays.

He is definitely is good passer. Very poised in the pocket and he's smart as a tack. Rarely makes a bad decision. He's had just a few bad choices, which is expected with a Junior making his first major starts, but he is handling the pressure of the position in an offense like ours very well.

Hats off to him he looks like a 4 year starter. When I 1st watch him I thought a lot of pre determined reads but after watching for the 4th time its more to that. I saw him come off he 1st 2 reads and threw down field into a hole in the defense. He makes it easy for his receivers where he puts the ball. Very impressed I have to see him in person.

Good question. He definately deserves some talk. Like Ryan said, very poised and smart. Very accurate and throws a beautiful tight spiral. I believe he will only get better as he grows more comfortable with the offense.

He has really grown since the 1st 2 games which were really his 1st 2 starts. He did start the 1st game last year, but was replaced in that game fairly early by River Michaels. He was a little over whelmed at that game last year as a soph against a very good Gate City team.
But he has grown ( literately ). He has grown to be close to 6'2" ( could be a little over 6'2" now ) and around 190 or so, but has really grown to become a complete QB.
The first 2 games this year he had a tendency to lock on to a receiver and would not check out of a play, but now he surveys the entire field and has been making excellent decisions, and once he makes a choice as to where to go with the ball he throws a beautiful catchable ball.
He knows how to throw with touch or has the arm to rifle the ball into tight spots, and the arm strength to go deep and be very accurate when he does. His footwork is getting much better also.
Coach Mance said before the season started that he was the 2nd best pure passer he has had at Richlands behind Justin McCracken. I think he has the potential to be even better than Justin by the time he is through.
He has all the tools to be a D1 QB, and a very good one at that. I just hope he can stay healthy.
It's good to see him being talked about somewhere besides Richlands !

When you have talent that he has people will find you. I really see this kid having a great career at QB. With his talent Richland's will be hard to beat come playoff time. When my nephew played at Buckingham with his passing ability it gave coaches the opportunity to expand the offense in a major way. No one should be able to stop Richlands but Richland's. They can run whatever they want with that type of talent taking the snap.

See: Richlands @ Union.

Four turnovers, two inside the redzone, and one that was returned for a TD. Also, a missed XP and a missed FG.

Richlands is Richlands worst enemy.

If this team stays focused and ready to go, they will go as far as they want this year. It's all up to them.

I noticed I been scouting you guys because my gut is telling me that we may be on a collision course this year. I may be wrong but I'm sensing a Buckingham vs Richlands match up somewhere.

Would love to see that. Hear a lot about Ragland. Thought he graduated. Tried to find some film on him but no luck.

He now full time running back the starting rb from last year is not on the team. His brother B.J. Gough is now the QB. Awesome tandem together.

Do you think Union may have had something to do with the way he played in that game? They were also missing a major piece of their team who was all state last year with 70plus catches!

Asbury went 14-21 for 203 and 4 TDs tonight with no INTS.

Brings him to 1768 yards through 7 games with 24 TDs and 4 INTs. Since the Union game, he has 20 TDs and 0 INT.

He needs just over 900 yards in the last 3 games to break McCrackens record at Richlands. He had just over 2600 in 2005.

Hey Ryan, does McCrackens record includ the playoff games, or is it just for the regular season games?
I know most records also include ALL games in that season which would include the playoffs ? Just asking because I am not sure myself.

I didnt know that BJ was Raglands brother. I also heard about the issues with starting RB last year? Heard he went to Fuqua because he got a 365 on discipline issues?

I watched him against Union, the kid is a GREAT QB. He has a strong arm, is mobile, and can read a defense. He did make two costly mistakes that arguably cost Richlands the game, but aside from those two throws, he was lights out.

Naw he's not at Fuqua he's at Buckingham back in school and will be eligible to play next year. Kid made a mistake but far from a troubled kid. That's my lil cousin and he is nothing but respectful.

Cool, thanks for answering back, I will correct the ones that I have heard it from. He and Ragland toasted us at Home last year big time (rushing). Pretty solid in basketball as well.

Thats very impressive, heres hoping someone knocks you guys out of the playoffs before Union has to play them again lol

I've only seen him once live and a few times on film, but I would figure him to draw some D1 attention next year (camp invites, mail, etc...), but he seems more likely to land at the FCS level, from what I've seen.

Unofficially, Asbury finished his first season at the helm with 2,275 yards with 36 TD and 5 INT. That's good for 2nd all time in Richlands history, just behind Justin McCracken who had 2,626 in 2006.

2,275 yards in 6 games in impressive. I figure........10 halves = 5 games played + the entire game against Bluefield and Union = 6 games. Richlands and their offense was so good it actually hurt his passing yards numbers!!! The guy has literally only played about 6 games.

This kid will play at a high level FCS school or non power 5 conference FBS school. Don't be surprised if he ends up at Marshall. He's good enough to play there. Keep in mind, this is his first year starting, and again....he really has only played about 6 games total.
