So what do we know at this point?

5 schools from the Richmond Region would currently be in the playoffs...

Colonial Heights would be a 5 seed going on the road to #4 Park View who they lost to earlier this season.

Armstrong would be a 7 seed on the road but not too far on the road at #2 Hopewell

Petersburg be a 6 seed on the road to #3 Brentsville District

John Marshall would be in the playoffs for the first time in over two decades but facing an uphill battle against #1 James Monroe.

In previous weeks I gave you brackets and last week I gave you remaining schedules and projected finishes. This week, I'm changing it up again. I punched the numbers using the ADM numbers to divide the region into Division 5 & 6 like the old days and where only four teams made the playoffs using the old ratings formula. Of these five schools, no one would be in the playoffs. Hopewell would be close, they would #5 but outside looking in.

So while we can all agree that too many schools get in, the new system in year three is much better than having a team like Hopewell not in the show.

These brackets will definitely change but there is one thing I do agree with now that I was not in favor of before. If you make the playoffs, there is always a chance and I would rather see more than less get an opportunity. Everybody loves a Cinderella story and would love to see one in VA Football this year. Can an Abington defeat a Phoebus? EV is getting guys back from injury. Can they get in and roll? What about a MillBrook or James Wood? Not in under the old system. Who can they surprise? Can Pulaski beat almighty Salem? Will JF meet a team that finally runs the Bone destroyer defense? Really exciting conclusion to the season coming and the playoffs may give us even more. Upsets WILL come. GL to all.
