As I'm sure some of you know Haysi and Clintwood will consolidate along with Ervinton which shut down a few years ago. We will now be a 2a school. I have seen the schedule and think that based on that we have a really good shot at doing well. With that being said how do you all think ridgeview will stack up against the better teams of 2a?

Just my opinion, but I think that Ridgeview will be one of the top teams in the West and able to play with anybody in the state. They have seen the speed of the east in Clintwood vs Sussex in 2011, Haysi vs Altavista in 2013 and Haysi vs Essex this past season. They have shown that they can play with anyone The only question will be how the two groups meld into one. I suspect that it will be a fairly seamless transition based on what I have seen.

Hey, 87, can you post the schedule?

Who will be the coach? Didn't the Haysi coach retire?

I had hoped to see a game at the Haysi field one day. I guess that will never happen now?

Coach Mullins who was at Clintwood will be the Ridgeview head coach. I believe that Coach Colley from Haysi will be the A.D.

IMO, I think Ridgeview will be a top 10 team in the 2a West. It's a bigger transition going from 1a to 2a than many expect. Everything is bigger and faster, especially at the top of the rankings. There will be a few growing pains with consolidation, just like Union and Central experienced in their first season. From what I understand, both Haysi and Clintwood lost a lot of talent to graduation so that could make the first year interesting. It will be a big task for them to match up early against the Richlands, GC, Union, Giles, and Glenvar teams in the 2a West that are always solid and then when you throw Lee, Marion, etc in the mix the 2a West is tough!! I'm glad to have another solid 2a team in swva, it will definitely make Conference 40 interesting for years to come.

Re: Schedule

Thanks 87. I'm a long way from SW Virginia, but I really enjoy following those gritty teams out that way.
