I listened to this one. Great win for Ridgeview. If Ridgeview doesn't self inflict with all the penalties and turnovers, this game would have been a three td win instead of a two td win for Ridgeview. Also, I don't know if it was wet or what the deal was, but Ridgeviews punt return guy needs to improve. It sounded like Ridgeview bobbled or fumbled EVERY punt Union had. I'm serious. I can't recall ANY Union punt that was cleanly handled by Ridgeview, but Ridgeview had perfect bounces from the fumbled punts that went back into the Ridgeview players hands. This is something that needs fixed because deep in the playoffs, it could be the difference in a nailbitingly close game. I didn't see it, but just by listening, it sounded like Ridgeview dominated on the line, offense, and defense, and I wrote thus earlier, Ridgeview must have a passing game because they exploited Union in the air as well. Sounds like Ridgeview is the clear favorite out west. Union got it to within a TD late, and Ridgeview just goes right down the field and scores, and late in the game, Ridgeview was going in again, but the game ended as Ridgeview was just killing clock on the last drive, but Union still couldn't stop em.

Congrats to Ridgeview. That's the kind of win for a program that puts it on the map statewide and no question, Ridgeview is a 2A legitimate state title contender.

RV was only -1 in turnover margin, but they did handle Union. Bears had no answer for Sexton.

Union didn't play their best but that's not taking anything from RV, they deserve a lot of love and they could make noise up state in playoffs. Good line play, LBs fly around always near the ball, the QB has wheels and can take off, they are very, very good

Normally the punt returner would be Jacob Hensley. However he suffered a gnarly injury on Wednesday in the auto body shop at vocational school and sliced his hand open rather badly. Ended up with 17 stitches.

He still wound up playing. He re-opened the hand on a pass deflection in the second quarter. There was no way he was catching passes or punts with that hand like it was. I've seen the pictures of it... not a pretty sight.

The guy we had back receiving punts was a sophomore who actually ended up catching a TD pass in the game.

According to the Bristol Newspaper, Union had 1 turnover to Ridgeviews 3. That's 2 more turnovers that Ridgeview had. Ridgeview also fumbled 6 times. As for Union not playing their best, Union's 13 points came off turnovers as Ridgeview fumbled and gave Union the ball inside the Ridgeview redzone (at the 19 or 20) and Union scored. Then, there was the Ridgeview interception of which Union returned it to the 6 of Ridgeview and later scored. Union had one long sustained drive in which they should have scored but didn't and that was it. I would say, it was Ridgeview who didn't play their best far more than Union not playing their best.

Total Yards
Union 147
Ridgeview 370
Ridgeview had a ratio of about 2.5 to 1 in total Yards easily doubling Union and not terribly far from tripling Union in total Yards.

Turnovers, Ridgeview 3, Union 1

This game just by listening, (I did not see it) was worse than the score indicated and it was Ridgeview who actually played far from it's A game compared to Union.

RV lost one fumble and I thought RV only threw one INT. Could be wrong.

Despite the ball being inground, RV played excellently for most part. The RV dominated yardage but Union was driving to tie game late and they stayed away fromwhat worked, hence he saying Union didn't play A game, but RV is the deal. There was a 4th down where I thought RV get fantasti fantasticc spot, it looked like he was for sure short .But doesn't natter, RV was better.

But I think it they played again, Union could win. The teams are not THAT far apart. Some penalties killed Union drives too, that hurt total yards, butt R Ridgeview is awesome and ttbhey deserved the W

Ridgeview won the LOS, had the better game plan, more yards, more TOs, more penalty yards, and fewer punts. They were better everywhere. They earned the win and deserved the win.

Maybe Union could win a rematch, maybe not. If they do play again, Union had better be way more prepared than they were this time, and they will need a much better gameplan.
