RRC 43 Championship Volleyball game already slated to be played at Northumberland

To start this off, I do not have a dog in the fight here...Just seems to me that the COnference Championship for girls varsity volleyball should be played at the higher seed, just as playoffs are.

Rappahannock County High School is undefeated so far this year against the Bull Run District, and one Northern Neck team( Northumberland)....seems that since we were realigned, we seem to have the highest travel times for these games. Per my calculations, we currently have a power rating of 8.2, Northumberland, if they are undefeated except the two losses to us( which I can't tell because they never update the Rschool standing page), the highest rating they could have to date would be 5.72...even if we lost the rest of our games and they won, we would still be higher seed.

Yet we have to drive 3 hours to a championship game when we are higher seed....can anyone tell me why the RRC gets to make this determination every single year?
Is it because we are the newcomers here? seems so political....commments, suggestions..this is not a thread to incite any negativity, just a frustrated parent who for the last 3 years has seen us travel alot for the sports we do well in....and other higher seeds dont....

I thought, not positive though, that conference tourneys are pre determined. Regional tourneys are played at higher seed I believe. FYI, Northumberland has at least one more loss as they split with Mathews.

thanks fo rthat info...as we are relatively new to the RRC and were always the underdog in the Bull Run, we rarely worried about being higher seed. With our AD;s help over the last few years and now a full time AD, our programs are getting better and we are becoming more competitive. Thanks for info on North and matthews matches. is there anywhere where they post wins and losses?

Seems like a typical parent post who doesn't understand the set up that instead of asking a question to an AD goes on a rant on a message board.. *shakes head*

No, i did ask my AD, this morning, ... we have only been in the RRC for 3 years... we have a new AD this year... he said it was set...I posted here to start a thoughtful conversation about maybe not having it "set" and maybe getting some different viewpoints on "why" it was set.

You sound like to me an angry parent who can never have a thoughtful conversation about something that you might not agree with.

and as far the basketball quote...???

Trace012, thanks for posting your questions and concerns. With all the changes the last few years, definitely legitimate questions as there has been lots of confusion in how all this works now. I do think that the tourneys are set in the preseason but not completely positive. It also depends on conference and region and classification. They really need to post the new rules and set up somewhere instead of people having to guess as you go.

Also, the new format does not really encourage other sports to post anymore as I mentioned in the beginning of the season. Yours was the 1st post (I think) on the 1A board anyway. Obviously, I love me some football but it is nice to recognize other sports and athletes as well, including girls athletics.

Yes, it is said Rapp County is really, really good in Volleyball this season. Good Luck!

The old Neck boasts three really good teams this year: (correct records if known and needed)

1) Northumberland 6-0, 12-3
2) Essex 4-1, 8-2
3) W&L 3-2, 10-2
