Rustburg/Heritage

One of the best high school games I have been to in awhile. Davis kid for Heritage is a beast. He never went down on the first hit. He just keeps his feet moving. If Heritage can find a passing game they will be one hard team to stop. Bradley going for it on 4th and inches deep in their own territory to me lost the game for them, but he had the testicular fortitude to try for it.

Rustburg showed a lot of heart. This team has something special. The kids believe and never give up. To me the biggest takeaway from the game is Rustburg can have a very affective passing attack. I hope they use it more. They finally got the Dixon boy involved in the offense and Lamberth had incredible hands. Defenses will have to play a little more honest against them now. Rustburg and Amherst in two weeks for the district title. Should be a good one.

There was several times I thought Heritage could seal the game, and every time Rustburg came back. The Pioneers are a very good team, and should give Amherst some issues next week. If Heritage pulls out the win.....Rustburg wins the Seminole outright by winning one of the next two games. The Bye week for Rustburg will give them time to rest and cheer for Heritage
The only bad thing I noticed from the game last night was the officiating. Several no calls for both teams, and it took several minutes for these guys to call a obvious kick catch interference.

Yeah the officiating was horrible. Couple of pass interferences were never called. I think Bobby Walker was the head official. Whenever he is their you are going to get a bunch of no calls or just horrible calls. I saw a lot of holding last night too never called.

Rustburg is just slept on in those polls cause they aren't a perennial power. This team is something special though, if they win out I can foresee them playing for a title.

Like what I say or dont... it doesn't matter... Rustburg will not win against Amherst... And on a dry field, they lose to Brookville... That game will be on the horizon in the playoffs... Other than that, they are a decent opponent... 2nd or 3rd round departure...

You make some good points...but Brookville beat Amherst in the rain on a wet field. The Bees have a great offense and should finish 8-2. Rustburg is having a great year, they could easily be 5-3 (winning the last 2 games by one). However they are 7-1 and need to be applauded from what they have accomplished. They may or may not beat Amherst. For now the Devils are #1 in 3a west. The Lancers have a very good Heritage next

And yet Heritage beat Brookville & JF beat Heritage... Does that automatically mean JF will beat the Bees?
Just like everyone said Brookville wouldn't beat Amherst... You really can't tell who's gonna win on any given night in this district. That logic doesn't matter nor make any sense if you're gonna make that a basis for an argument against Rustburgs record.
They also held Appomattox to under 20 points which only one other team has happened to do this year.
And if you watched the game lastnight don't be surprised if Rustburg goes out and throws all over the field and beats Amherst.
Jones threw for 248 last night and was 16-19 a couple scores.
Rustburg will have 2 weeks to prepare for Amherst so I really won't be surprised if they go there and win.

I am an Amherst fan and yes they can. Amherst will have to defend the pass better but we are without our QB and that makes a difference. Our backup is pretty good and can pass and score . I think that is what we need to do. But we will be playing at home. Just imagine if Rustburg didn't have their QB would they be as good, probably not but it is part is the game. I just hate it for Amherst that Keshon is hurt.. Like the fans are saying, he probably stayed in the Liberty game too long. That will be a awesome game but if it comes down and it is close Rustburg will win. I will not say why I think that but I do

Lol!!! I'm not saying Rustburg will beat Amherst. I still think Amherst is by far the best team in the District. I don't quite understand how a dry field in the Rustburg game makes any difference. It's not like Brookville receivers dropped balls all night. They were just well defended. The Qb was constantly under pressure not due to wet field but due to no blocking. Both teams played on the same wet field. It's no different than the very next week playing Amherst on a wetter than the previous week and pulling the upset. Sounds to me like typical Brookville excuse for losing. If you play Amherst on a dry field and their #1 Qb Amherst bears you by 3 or more tds. I hope Rustburg plays Brookville again. Come on down to Rustburg and get that butt whooped again.

Current Seminole Standings

Rustburg 4-0. Win outright with a victory at Amherst or a loss by Amherst to Heritage and a win over Glass
Amherst 3-1 win outright by beating Rustburg and Heritage
Brookville 2-2 best case scenario 2nd place
Heritage 1-2 best case scenario 2nd
Glass 1-2.
JF 1-2
Liberty 0-3

I think people have been overlooking the fact that Rustburg has been good the past few years but they haven't been able to close out those close games. This year they've seemed to find that missing link.

If Amherst can make it through these last 3 games unscathed then I have no problem saying they are the best team in the area. That's a tough way to end the season though... All three will be worth watching imo.

I would have more confidence if we had our QB but they can do it. It is a shame for that kid though. He always scored at least a couple of TDs

I think some people don't realize what Rustburg have in their youth program.A good youth program doesn't always translate to a good varsity program but a good varsity program usually have a good youth program.Rustburg should be good for a few more years I believe.

That back up they have playing for Heritage is also a hell of a player... REALLY fast, if he could throw the ball around, Heritage could be a serious threat. Only had one completion Friday night though...

They had 18 returning seniors
