Salem 68. Cave Spring 0

Two weeks after giving up 500+ yards and 40 points to Pulaski they pitched a shutout, never allowed CS past midfield, and had more INTS (4) than first downs allowed (3). Kids needed this one, glad it happened. Right decision to make to fight for the goose egg, too. Will do those kids a world of good.

They have not been competitive since 2012

Nick did really well over there for his two years. Took over a nothing from Fulton, went 3-7 in year one but had them competitive in several losses, came back in 2022 and took them to 6-4 in the regular season, the only team they didn't make up ground on that season compared to 2021 was Salem (lost by 35 each year). Turned quite a few 2021 losses into 2022 wins, only one game went in the reverse.

Nick had them trending the right way for sure. Like most places, good coaching does wonders.

Nick did a great job. The biggest win they had was over PH. The other wins were against teams that didn't make the playoffs or lost first round. I stand by my statement that CS has not been a factor since 2012 and lost any chance of becoming one when Nick left.

Camper playing at LB definitely looks to be helping the defense some. Hope they can keep it up. The offense looks really, really good.

Not even trying to stir the pot but Salem’s supposed to beat the hell out of Cave Spring like this. It was only a matter of time before they got back on track.
