I agree it’s a blessing and a curse. I also played on an 8-4 Salem team that I believe could have beat the 12-1 team I played on. I can count on one hand the solitary plays that made the difference in those four losses on the 8-4 season. Conversely on the 12-1 team, many games were close and the luck went in the opposite direction where we won. Does that make the 8-4 team a “bad” team if I could make a sound argument as to why my 12-1 team wouldn’t be able to handle some of the weapons my 8-4 team had? Certianly couldn’t say that according to the 10 game standard some people have hardlined here on this platform.@CrushBlock, you made some great points; however, its both a curse or a luxury to have a consistent winner.
Dinwiddie hasn't won the multiple State Championships that Salem has, but just like the Spartan faithful the expectation of a 10-0 or 9-1 season is the norm for our/your spoiled fan base.
Our tough ood schedule and several difficult district opponents often leads to a few losses and Navy Nation tends to come unglued. I would much rather prefer to have folks gripe about an 7-3 or 8-2 season than suffer through a losing one. Just a dang good problem to have.
I guess next year one of our fans bases will be looking for answers early. 😂
The point being, all Salem teams have the ability to go all the way in my opinion, sometimes things just go right and sometimes they don’t. There is always an element of chance that goes into these things.
I’m sure the same thing with dinwiddie. Think how a handful of plays could have changed things in a big way for a whole season. And that could be the difference between someone calling your team “bad”, “good”, or “great”. It’s just the difference in a few plays over the course of thousands all season.
