Salem preview Roanoke Times

Ok, everybody hold on. My comments had nothing to do with who LT scheduled. My comments were simply jabbing Devils a little about trying to convince us that they had a really tough schedule. Your district opponents are who they are. Basically, or even exactly, that is who you play. Anybody that has even a sliver of familiarity with LT knows they seek out the toughest non-district opponents they can line up. So I was in no way indicating that they were looking to pad their schedule.

I'm sure Rod is spot on that their schedule is one of the 15-20 toughest schedules when looked at the way he stated. (I kind of twisted that around a little). My point is, LT is the #1 team as of right now in 4a. There is no real reason that they should lose a single one of those games, if they are truly the #1 team. Granted, we are talking about high school kids here, and Lord knows where there brains will be sometimes. Barring something strange, they will be 10-0.

I'm befuddled about Caroline too. Maybe replacing three games was just asking too much? Or, as I suspect, there was a reason Caroline wanted to keep us. It may have boiled down to honoring a friendship/respect thing. Their football program needs a lot of work, but they are a good bunch of folks up there.

I know we didn't have the same level of difficulty finding games that you did Devils, but it was no walk in the park, for sure. Not in the numbers you had, but the reasons were similar. Disappointly to me was that some of the programs that I feel are very respectable apparently didn't even bother to respond back. That immediately makes me think they were hiding from saying, "we don't want to risk losing". I'm not like you Devils, that being having the inside and actual information, so my opinions are just drawn from scuttlebutt. Obviously it was your job to find opponents so you know exactly who and why they turned you down. I would like to know who you contacted to compare with what I think I know about who we reached out to. Wcook2@verizon.net.

Don't be so kind to Caroline. Home games regularly are at about 10% capacity or less. Visiting sides often out number the home side. That's how ugly the product Caroline put's on the field is. There are nice people in Caroline but if you know their history of the Coaching Carousel and the constant whining of parents that the School Board have no choice but to listen to, you'd understand why this program is so disastrous. You always want more involvement by the players families but this is a program destroyed by insane Parents and a spineless Administration.
