Hermitage 21 HSHS 20 Final OT.
HSHS dominated the line of scrimmage the entire first half with time consuming run oriented drives. One, in scoring possession, qb threw an int. on a miss read pass for a pick 6. Herm up 7-0. HS gets the ball back right before the end of the 1st qtr and makes a drive that lasts through about the first half of the 2nd qtr and fumbled on 1st and goal at the 5 yd. line.
HS was riddled with untimely penalties that lead to Herm scoring again Making the score 14-0.
Just before half. HS puts together a nice 2 minute drill and scores making the halftime score
14-7.
3rd qtr. HS stops Herm. and gets the ball back with a nice drive and knots the score at 14.
It stayed that way with Herm missing a field goal with less that 10 seconds left in regulation.
OT, HS scored 1st and extra point was blocked. score 20-14
Herm then scores + 1 and wins 21-20.
I'm sure when the stats come out.... HS should have won on paper. BUT with 2 scores squandered, the scoreboard showed the difference.
Great game though, congrats to The Herm! It was a hard fought game!

See here is what happens when you put stock in 7 on 7's, and scrimmage results especially against good programs like N. Stafford you get set up for a hard fall. Highland Springs will probably smoke Norview, but that won't erase the fact that yourself along with people associated with HS including players were talking a lot of smack all offseason about how great the Springers were. Undefeated in 7 on 7's this summer, biggest and baddest OL/DL. Greg Dortch should be rated higher Rod hating on him maybe people should done more scouting of Hermitage. We all know they won't lose a game in the Colonial LC Bird won't lose in the Dominion and that leaves HS as the 3 seed at best. Good luck winning at Bird or Hermitage and then going on the road having to win at the other one a week later in the playoffs. BTW I'm a proud graduate of Hopewell HS c/o 2000.

Thanks for your wishes for good luck! The chatter about HS and their success during preseason from me is based on facts. They were undefeated in 7x7 play, they did do a great job everywhere they went, they did make N. Stafford look like a jv team and they handled Thomas Dale as well.
As you probably know as well as I do, when "real" football starts, you can throw all that preseason stuff out of the window because it doesn't count towards a thing. As I have done.
HS vs. Hermitage was a season opener with 2 of the best teams in the state of Virgina! I'm not upset with a 21-20 overtime loss to them. They have a great team! As I said in my prior post, I congratulated them on a job well done. They deserve that, they earned it. Our kids got pats on the back for a good job too!
This was game one!! The season doesn't end here and I have a feeling HS will meet Hermitage again. Both teams will probably be better then, without 45 penalties/ 350 yds. on both sides! I hope we do meet them again. I honestly think we can beat them!! Really, we should have beaten them last night! We want a State Title as bad as anybody here in Highland Springs, Va. Don't hate on me and don't try to make me look like a fool just because I stand for my school, am proud of our kids and know that we have the goods here to make it a long way!! That will never change!

I don't hate on you because I have state championship rings which HS doesn't since before I was born, but I will point out ONCE AGAIN it's the same song and dance from HS every year. Love the enthusiasm for your Springers, but until ya'll close the deal you will be preseason and regular season champions. The HS faithful set the bar high and opened the Springers up for this criticism, so don't get mad when it comes. It wouldn't happen if HS people and players would just be quiet and let the season play out but when you come out and say "look at me look at me" Backlash will follow. I like HS they do a great job hosting my girls event every year!!

I will certainly not involve myself in this he said, she said thing between you two. But I will make two quick points.

First, all serious football fans know you can't make critical mistakes against really good teams. They will haunt you every time.

Secondly, pick either team. And then remember the game was decided by one point in OT. Hard to get much closer than that.

Both of these are very true sentiments. I gotta give him a hard time though the bar was set high. Seems like they were two evenly matched teams. And if you lose the turnover battle it makes it that harder to win.

This VaPreps site was as dead as dead could be during the summer! Nobody was posting a single thing on here about anybody or anything! I stated then that I just wanted to get folks to talk about something here.This kind of post is what I don't like and I will make a decision as to if it is worth reading what I feel is intent to at least make me feel bad about myself. That won't work for you, but I can stop it from affecting me. Clearly what I said weeks ago has affected you, why else would you bring it up? If it makes you happy DEVILSLB99, I will no longer post, quit looking on here and revoke my membership and save myself $10.00/per month.

I do appreciate that. What made me upset is you were not saying things about the Springers, you were talking about ME! I do have a tendency to defend myself!!
