So who give a little sketch of WA offense/defense

Spread, Pistol, under center formations on offense, 4-4 defense. Love to run and pass. QB is pretty good and you can tell he learned under former QB Kent Henry. RB is a stud. Highlights against Waynesboro: http://www.scrimmageplay.com/media/videos/western-rallies-past-waynesboro

Thanks-WA will have a size advantage but I am not sure their speed is up to Petersburg or Hopewell. But they looked good on the link and the QB has nice size, poise and an arm. Look forward to Saturday. Current forecast here is a steady light rain but these forecasts do change often as it is only Tuesday.
I heard earlier that the rain will still be west of 95 at noon. May get lucky and squeeze it in with just a little rain in the 4th.
Sorry I couldn't make it last Sat. Was really looking forward to the game. Saw your kids sitting on our side when we played Jamestown. Not a lot of love lost, I can tell.

45 player roster?
That has got to be the dumbest damn rule I have ever known of a school system to adopt. It has nothing to with creating a competitive disadvantage, and everything to do with limiting the the opportunity of learning tremendous life skills to only 45 kids. All to save how much? They piss away more money than what they could possibly save every year, on some of the hairbrained ideas they implement to provide evaluations of teacher performance.
James City County probably has more resources than 95% of the localities in VA. And probably less than 5% of the wisdom in their leaders than a heard of sheep.

Years ago (been going to Lafayette games 15 years) the roster was well over 60. Now many are on JV and they rotate a bunch every few weeks. I agree let the turnout determine the varsity roster , not done arbitrary cost saving number. The JCC but is nearly 190 million!

It is just hard to see how you can have as gritty and tough of a team as is at Lafayette, and have have such a poor program as it is at Jamestown. Mostly coach and winning tradition?

Coaching is first . 15 years , 3 head coaches , all outstanding (linn is great but I still miss Wheeler a bit), then tradition- always expect to be in the playoffs and the kids are big into the weight program year round and putting the time in. This all instills an attitude that is hard to replace. Jamestown has none this and even Warhill (3rd Williamsburg HS) the coaching has been musical chairs. For some time to come it will be Lafayette and the "others". The one great player Warhill had (Dedmon) who now plays for W&M never was on a real good team and enjoyed that success, I do imagine Jalil Green and him in our backfield last year (both seniors). I guarantee JM would have toast last year!

Good luck to you guys. I think there is still a chance you may get most of the game in with just a little light rain.
Hopefully our teams will meet next year in the post season. I think Dinwiddie still needs a game next cycle. Any chans Lafayettee has a slot?

I think I saw today that Huguenot will be getting a new, state of the art school. I hope that this will be a spring board for their football program. About 10 years ago they were pretty competitive. I believe the Coach was McFee or something like that. He was big man, physically, and in his coaching style. He was respected, and you had better be prepared for his teams because they came to play.
But in their defense, they have a killer schedule. Cosby, Petersburg, Manchester, Bird, James River, and Monacan. All of which are playoff teams. And I know they made the playoffs themselves, but with only one win and a lot of benefit from rider points from this killer schedule. And their reward was to go down to Lafayette? Tough reward, huh?
And now they will add Lafayette to their schedule. If they ever win 6 or 7 games with this schedule, they should just be awarded the championship trophy and call it a season.
So I guess Lafayette will have the same schedule except adding Huguenot? Ironic these two teams met in the playoffs.

I do know for a fact that there are teams that limit their rosters to a specific number because that's all the uniforms and equipment they have. Just a financial bottom line for the School District.

Yes, same schedule but I wish there was a bigger change than one game. Going to Div 4 once again we need more points. Bruton is Div. 2 and York, Poquoson, New Kent, Warhill are Div 3. Our points this year, undefeated would only have gotten a 4 th seed in div 4. Maybe down the road these old conferences that mean little now will go away and conference play will be those teams actually in the VHSL conferences. It will be awhile ! Meanwhile let the rain hold off until 4:30 Pm!
