KW opened up defense of its class 2 state championship with a resounding win over perennial power, Rappahannock. Current JMU pitcher Taylor Johnson is the only player the Lady Cavs lost from last season, but in her place, they still have 2 solid pitchers in Jillian Smith and Payton Lewis. For the game, 3 KW pitchers combined for a 2 hitter, while Addie Kirby had a HR among her 2 hits, Payton Lewis had 3 hits and 4 RBIs, and every KW starter got at least one hit.

Looks like KW might be in for another good run.

Richlands is off to a bit of a slow start. Although we've had pretty stiff competition. Faced some very good pitchers. Doesn't get any easier next week as they face NC committ Carly Compton with TN High. That is if they feel like they need to start her. Wouldn't have it any other way. Bring our girls the best. Only helps them in the long run. I feel like they'll come along before mid-season. We're very young this year with all starters being sophomores.

Edit: actually 7 sophomores and 2 freshman
