I forget the name of the event, but for about the fourth or fifth year in a row, JMU's Bridgeforth Stadium is hosting a weekend of high school games, and two of the four Shenandoah District games will be held there, as well as a trio of Valley District games. There will be a double-header Friday night and a triple-header Saturday.

Things kick off Friday at 6:00 with a Valley District game between Spotswood and Broadway. Might be too early to say for sure, but the Wood would appear to be the favorite in that one.

Stuarts Draft and East Rockingham then tangle in an 8:15 game. Talk about two teams heading in opposite directions!!!! Eagles should cruise in that one.

On Saturday, two of the three games have the potential to be competitive. Wilson and Lee start off with a Shenandoah game at 2:00. Given the injury/illness situation at Lee and Wilson's up and down year so far, I would hesitate to call this one, but the Leemen would be the best bet.

The middle game (4:45-ish) should be a snoozer with winless Waynesboro tackling Harrisonburg. The Streaks should roll in that one, although I seem to recall that either last year or year before, the situation was the same and Waynesboro played lights out and almost pulled off the upset. But I don't see it this time.

Rockbridge and Turner Ashby then close out the weekend with a 7:00 game that could be a close one. The winner will be left atop the standings tied with Harrisonburg if all goes well.

That leaves two other Shenandoah games being played on home fields as Page travels to Buffalo Gap and Riverheads to Stonewall. Look for the Bison to be in a foul mood after Saturday night and determined to get Rivenburg's stats back up to where they were before. Page will score some on them, but look for the Gap to prevail in one of those 49-22 kind of games. RHS on the other hand will have too many horses for Stonewall, but you gotta give the Generals credit for their effort at Lee Saturday afternoon.

If you are missing Fort Defiance and Luray in this discussion, it is because those two have the weekend off.

Should be an entertaining weekend. Support the JMU event if you like, although remember I already gave you your instructions for Saturday in another thread!!!! So many games, so little time!!!

I would be very surprised to see 49 for Gap, for the reasons I have posted in past, 2 0t conversions. I know they have in the past done it up big. I'll say that game ends up closer than expected.

I'll take Spotswood, Harrisonburg, Lee, Rockbridge and Riverheads

I'm with you most of the way with Spotswood, Harrisonburg, Lee , Riverheads and East Rock. Where we differ is the Rockbridge game. I gotta go with TA but it should be close. Plenty of football to go around...

Haven't seen either, could be way off.

And I didn't pick that other game on purpose

I love this event and plan to go most years. I'll miss it this year because I'm going to a wedding in the NRV. At least I'll be able to watch Radford-Giles.
