Springers get the W (Vapreps Classic)

Four players scored in double-figures for Highland Springs leading a balanced attack to send the Springers to a 61-53 win over Booker T. Washington in the Virginiapreps Classic. The Springers team effort resulted in 17 assists and 12 steals, and they pulled out the win despite giving up 24 offensive rebounds.

Highland Springs led at halftime and scored the first two baskets of the second half to open up a 31-23 lead. The Springers kept the pressure on into the 4th quarter leading 41-35. Victroy Harris made another open baseline jumper which gave the Springers a 45-36 lead with 6:43 to go. Harris just missed scoring in double digits ending the game with 9 points. A.J Gaston led Highland Springs with 14 points and Kirvel Alexander finished with 13 points and a team high seven rebounds. Mikel Simms and Na'Quon Trapp both added 11 points. All five players had at least two assists and three rebounds. Alexander took home Player of the Game honors.

Booker T Washington led by five early in the game but fell behind 27-23 at halftime. The Bookers had plenty of opportunities to score inside but they could not convert around the rim. Breyon Gaddy and Brandon Gaddy combined for 13 offensive rebounds. Breyon finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Brandon finished with 9 points and 4 rebounds. The teams combined for only three 3-point baskets. Ezekiel Ingram stuff the stat books for 6 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 steals and one assist.
