This game should set a new record for points... Line has to be right around 83... I like over!

I really think blacksburg can score with the speed they have, but i dont know if they can outscore SR.. someone posted SR had 359 yards on 14 plays in the 1st half. How do you stop that? This game could be like the SR and w. Albermarle game last year. 1st one to 100 wins.. lol

I am thinking this... Officiating gets tight in state games and tempo is huge for both these teams, however, the refs cant stop these two teams but so much...

I'm on... Staunton River 69 Blacksburg 49

Have to start thinking about SR tomorrow , got Hokie soccor and football for the rest of this exciting day

it saddens me too... I've watched the games there every year the last 10 years or so...

Was at s.river game last wk and this wk.seen bburg playbrookville. I tnk there run stop at states. S.rivers is really that good
No disrespect to bburg but could be a long day

It's a shame these 2 teams have to pass Lynchburg on way to Williamsburg to play. VHSL is stupid for moving games from Lynchburg to Williamsburg. I hope they lose money at gate
They can file to get the game moved. Osbourn played Oakton at freedom high in Woodbridge for the state championship not long ago. They were suppose to have played in the 757

Like the River. Nice field but not to take Blacksburg likely. Expect a few tricks and some pass played from the "Wing".
55-32 St. River

Osbourn and Chantilly in 2006. The game was moved to Freedom in Woodbridge; it was originally scheduled for Darling Stadium in Hampton. Just did some quick research.

I'm guessing this was before the arrangement with UVa was in place?

Thanks for the research I thought it was Oakton but chantilly sounds right and I think they were allowed to move it because darling is a high school venue where as no contracts were signed at a university etc

I think UVA is a centralized location where you can have all 6 championships there. It's the best venue I've watched a state championship in other than JMU

Lots of people from the Lynchburg area would go if in Charlottesville but not Williamsburg. I believe it will have the lowest attendance of any state game yet

Liberty by far the best pl in my option.uva is a bit big . I've seen liberty packed for 3a and 4a chapionship. Lynchburg and surrounding communities really support those games. I tnk mumbers will be way down
I agree with you, attendance will be way down

I think they should go back to home schools rotating every year like they use to. It would save them money too.

A very strong suggestion for fans coming from the west to Williamsburg. Hit Rt.10 in Hopewell, enjoy the pleasant ride to Surry. Then take the very relaxing 15 minute ferry ride across the beautiful James River. You will dock right next to the three little ships that got our great state and country started. (And no, it isn't the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria). W&M is about 15 minutes from there.

Or, catch Rt 5 and enjoy the sites as you pass some of the oldest farms in the nation. You can't see it from Route 5, but my favorite is Kittiewan. Officially it was patented, ((Kings land grant), in 1618. But there is strong evidence that it was beginning to be established by 1611. That's only four years after Jamestown was first established. I can almost hear a settler saying, "I'm sick of being stuck in this damn fort, I'll take my chances on the outside"!

You can always take Rt60. That's not a bad ride either.

There, you have three choices that keep you off of the dreaded I64. I will say this, 64 is "usually" not too bad until after you get past Williamsburg. But on any given day, you can get hung up in snail's past traffic. The frustrating part, you never know why. Eventually you get back up to speed, and never pass a wreck, or highway construction, or any other reason for the "slooow dooown"! Consider the alternate routes, enjoy the trip, and travel safe.

I worry about our schools and education in general when VHSL isn't smart enough to pick a good site for a ball game. Even the dumbest person within knows Lynchburg is better venue than Williamsburg. I may go just to compare New venue to old one. What time is SR-Blacksburg game ?

We did the Jamestown Ferry deal a few weeks ago coming home from Williamsburg. Stopped at Va.Diner for lunch. A good option for fans from the west going to the games @ William & Mary.

I guess no one on VCU campus has a gun during basketball tournament.

I go on LU campus weekly. It's safest campus of any college in Virginia.

Williamsburg is a beautiful town. It is just not the ideal location for a title game for 3A. With the majority of the classification being on the west side of the state. Salem would be a much better fit. I'm not a "fan" of either team, but would love to watch the title game between these two. I have neither the time or the money to travel 4 hrs each way. If it was closer (Salem or Lynchburg) the attendance would easily double if not triple.
