Senior guard Te'Ven Smith scored 22 points and junior center Owen Gray added 16 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Steward School past Norfolk Collegiate by a final score of 63-48 win. The Spartans, who were recently ranked #4 in the 1st VISAA Basketball poll, led the entire game from the opening tip.
Smith scored the Spartans 1st seven points and finished the half with 15 points (including a three) as the Steward School led 29-19 at the break. Gray (6-foot-10) was dominant inside and he had 10 points and 11 rebounds before halftime.
An 8-0 run to start the second half increased the Spartans lead to to 37-19 early in the 3rd quarter. Gray picked up his 4th foul but Norfolk Collegiate was not able to cut into the lead.
Liberty University commit Curtis Blair III scored 12 of his 14 points in the 2nd half for the Steward School.
Junior Rashaad Williams sored 15 points to lead Norfolk Collegiate while adding five rebounds. Brennan Chatman finshed with nine and Kamren Robinson chipped in seven.
