Does anyone know how this one turned out? I stopped by for a while but had to leave with the score tied at 2-2 with the Cougars coming to bat in the bottom of the fifth.
SD had scored first, plating single runs in the first and third but RHS then strung together three singles to open the fifth and pushed across the two tying runs. So it was showing every sign of going down to the wire.
Gladiator fans and coaches were getting a little frustrated with the infield umpire over some close calls at first base and things got a little testy at one point as he was heard to say "It wasn't even close, get back in the dugout." Looks like that computerized umpiring we have been reading about can't come soon enough!!!!
I did find out that the Gladiators had opened their season in fine fashion just yesterday with a 4-0 shutout over Division 5 Harrisonburg. In fact the H'burg paper said it was a no-hitter. That win should certainly help in the points department when they start talking about playoffs later this spring.
