The Tigers scrimmage versus Southampton ( 3a) was very promising. The Tigers as a team performed very well.
The Tigers have been known for years to be a very physical program, last night it was very evident that this style has returned. On defense the Tigers were flying around , attacking , and we're having fun in doing so. I know it's early but things will be ok in Tiger land. Improved play will be demanded at middle linebacker and defensive end. #7 Jones and #10 Clark flashed at outside backer positions.
On offense the offensive line looked pretty darn good for this early in season, with Qb Rose showing complete command of the offense. The 2nd back position is still open with #6 flashing. Gray, Gibbons, and Chambliss were solid as leaders of the o line. The Tight Ends didn't do enough in my opinion but I trust in the coaches to clean this up. All in all Sussex is not last year's Tigers , being this early overall they are on pace to be a problem for whomever they face. Tiger Proud !

I’d love to see Sussex take Region B. Sounds like it will come down to consistency & discipline. Good luck Tigers!

What did Southampton look like? Running anything diff since they got a new staff?

Power I formation, with 2 fullbacks leading, naked boot play action off of this. They have not changed there philosophy, They are huge up front ,but lack conditioning. There identity is power football

C & D each have their contender it would seem in PHGS & Galax. Region A has Rapp & perhaps Essex as contenders. And who knows who else might have an outstanding year and be in the mix come Novemeber.

My comment wasn’t intended to diminish Region B. Surely I understand that Riverheads is the beast to get by. It’s annoying that even needs to be stated. What I was getting at is there are still tough games to be played in the semis & championship beyond the regional final where Sussex would probably face Riverheads.

No problem man, just trying to get some info about teams from out west, the west teams are always less discussed on this board due to lack participation by there supporters, People forget Franklin, William Campbell, Altavista , will have a day in region b, let us all hope Riverheads is distracted by all the drama that occurred this off season

If any of the top teams can have a great regular season they should have a chance to control their own destiny at home. Along with the Shenandoah district games where I would imagine RH will be favored in all games but there are a couple teams who could play with them, Riverheads will be an underdog in OOD game vs Glenvar.

Here's to hoping my team can help all those 1b schools have a better chance at having home field against RH

I heard but can’t confirm , that Surry manhandled Essex ? Anyone attend that scrimmage

I was not there but was told this ...“Defense (Essex) gave up 1 touchdown in 2 20 snap scrimmages... 0 against Surry, 1 against Brunswick.”

Hey gunz draft scrimmaged anyone yet they should be pretty good next couple years
I didnt see it personally but a couple guys from work went to the Draft/Spottswood scrimmage and they said Spotswood dominated on both sides of the ball.I think Draft is still a relatively young team again this year.

Just a few things I heard, with varying degrees of importance (i.e. fans or coaches). Said Spotswood did REALLY well on offense, good enough talent to make a run in 3a, and SD moved the ball pretty well but shot themselves in the foot. I won't verify any of that as I wasn't there, and I don't think no matter how much I know (or don't haha) I can evaluate something (not just football) without seeing it for myself. I don't know how old they were last year, but was 9-1. Spotswood lost a close back and forth game to Liberty in the playoffs that if I remember correctly was decided by a really late kick.

Draft has another scrimmage tomorrow at 6 at home. Changed from Friday

What I've found interesting about scrimmage opinions is that you rarely hear the same thing from opposing viewpoints!!! The only truth comes from the scoreboard and anything is possible when the scoreboard isn't turned on!
