Fellas I'm streaming this game live and as the biggest GW fan I can be in telling you GW couldn't beat RH this year. That is a special group my god.

Our passing game might have gave them some trouble but not much else. And again that machine they call an O is just crazy.
Whoever said RH could give Appo a game is just ridiculous.
Yes they are it's a shame just play football and they just got Sussex with the halfback pass on fourth and 10 and make that 42 to 6 River heads with 10 minutes left in the 4th

On Riverheads first play, I knew they were going to win and that they would put up BIG points. Proud of those kids and that coaching staff! Congrats from the old Leemen!
There is no reason to start this argument,but I think they could they should have beat Stuarts Draft and they lost a heart breaker to Richlands.

I didn't "start" any argument. It was stated earlier in the thread that RH couldn't be beat in 1A and would give Appomattox a "good game". They couldn't. They won 1A and that's an awesome feat. But just because you rolled through 1A doesn't mean you would in 2A. Appo is special, they wouldn't (in my opinion) be beat by anyone in 3A or 4A besides Salem and Dinwiddie, and I think they could hang with both of them for 3 QT's. Congrats to RH, but you aren't competing with Appo.
Riverheads beat a lot 2 A teams during the season and if Appo makes ONE mistake,they would beat their ass too.

You think a 1 dimensional team is going to contend with a team on a 29 game winning streak? Especially a running team going against the speed of Appo!? Come on....
I disagree. I think you'd possibly have a close 1st quarter or 1st half, but I don't believe they hang close for 4 quarters.
If you believe Sussex is in the same league with Appo in the speed department, you're mistaken.
Appomattox has about 12 kids as fast or faster than the fastest player from Riverheads or Sussex....
At the risk of derailing this thread, Riverheads had a great season and they should be very proud of their success!
We are proud to be slowest bunch of small guys that beat all those fast guys,all joking aside when you control the football it is very hard for anyone to use their speed against them,they pickup first down after first down and frustrate you until they break one,they are also the most deceptive group with ball you will see and do not turn it over that style is hard to beat no matter who you are.This is my last post I'm going to go celebrate now.Thank You and have a nice day.
So let me get this straight, it's ridiculous to say a 1A champ could give a 2A champ a good game, but certainly logical to say a 2A champ would beat the 3A and 4A champs? Not to mention the games aren't going to happen this year anyway. Wow.
Correct. Look at their team compared to the others. Sometimes you have special teams from certain classifications that could compete with other classifications. Powell Valley from '94 could compete with other classifications in their time. RH is a good team, but they aren't defeating or even competitive with this Appo team. Sorry.
I humbly disagree. Appomattox might win more than half the time, but I think it would be more competitive than you are letting on. I would say out of 10 games Appo 6-7, RH 3-4.
Why does it feel like Appomattox is in that love/hate area? Last year they were the feel good story, this year is more like "they are the best ever & if you don't agree you are an idiot!!"

They aren't the best ever, just better than any team in 1A. You don't have to be the best ever to beat this year's RH team. 
This will probably go unnoticed but I want to I say congrats to Sussex for a very good season. I am sure there will be a whole bunch of overzealous fans from all over arguing but it was a good hard hitting game with the exception of a short period where the in game passion of a few players went a little far. I hated to see the one young man be ejected as he is a very solid defensive player. Lots of talented players on this Sussex team but Riverheads seemed to have the answers today against them.
I think there are some trolls that want to tarnish this championship already. To you Mr oldballcoach, if you ever were a leader of a program I am surprised it ever had success. Enjoy your retirement and take all your evidence to whomever you think needs to make adjustments so we get moved up to 2A. We may not have won in that division but we were competitive even then. Now go back under your bridge.
So now congrats to this Riverheads team for reaching your goal. Dedication and adherence to the process has payed off in being able to hoist the trophy. Forever you are the 2016 Virginia State 1A Champions. Celebrate this tremendous season and take time to look back at the road that got you here. For seniors, thank you for giving us all pride watching you develop over your time on the field. Life holds so much more so now, go reach those goals too. For underclassmen, enjoy this success but know that next season starts as soon as the bumps and bruises heal. Dedicate yourself to being individually better in your contribution to the team.
