John Battle 17, Virginia High 1
Her debut as the head coach of John Battle High School’s softball team turned out to be a smashing success for Hannah Light Cress.
The Trojans pounded out 17 hits and Madison Hill pitched a no-hitter in a 17-1, five-inning victory over Virginia High on Monday night.
Sarah Musick, Logan Leonard and Emma Harmon each had three hits for Battle. The Trojans led 5-0 after one inning.
Cress was once a star pitcher at Coeburn High School and King University.
Ridgeview 20, (1A) Twin Valley 2
Nikole Counts had four hits, while Carissa Mullins collected four RBIs as Ridgeview romped past Twin Valley.
Hunter Grant (3-for-5, two RBIs) and Bailey Frazier (2-for-4, two RBIs) also keyed the victory. Counts and Mullins combined to pitch a two-hitter.
Sam Ferrell and Jessica Viers accounted for Twin Valley’s hits.
Baseball:
Lebanon 19, (1A) Grundy 1
Matthew Buchanan and Anthony Houchins each scored four runs as Lebanon blasted Grundy and remained unbeaten.
Colton Justus had two hits for Grundy.
Girls Soccer:
Richlands 9, Grayson County 0
Sara Rinehardt scored three goals as Richlands rocked Grayson County.
Tori Smith added a pair of goals, while Ellie Lindsey, Carson Richardson, Kristen Hedrick and Jantzen Taylor also found the back of the net for the Blue Tornado.

Melina Turner, Madison Chappell and Colleen Haderer scored goals as the John Battle Trojans topped rival Virginia High.

Andrew Boardwine and Cardell Georges scored goals as Virginia High vanquished rival John Battle.
Jayden Farley gave the Trojans an early 1-0 lead, but the Bearcats rallied.
