SWVA IMPACT PLAYERS FOR THE WEEK


Southwest Virginia is loaded with talent. Those of us who have followed the sport in SWVA for many years already know that. This year is no exception. There are good running backs, great quarterbacks and receivers. These week’s impact players for SWVA in no particular order:


Dakota Humphrey – Patrick Henry (GS) rushed for 207 yards and five touchdowns in the Rebel’s rally over Marion. Humphrey ran for three scores in the fourth quarter.


Walker Dillon – Lebanon Pioneers rushed for four touchdowns and and 248 yards on 36 carriers to propel the Pioneers over the Castlewood Blue Devils. Dillon scored the game winning 8-yard plunge late in the fourth quarter to propel the Pioneers over the Blue Devils.


Josh Wood – Castlewood Blue Devils rushed for 166 yards on 21 carries and also passed for 158 yards in the Blue Devils’ loss to Lebanon.


Eric Doane – Northwood Panthers passed for five touchdowns and was 10 of 15 with 234 yards passing in Northwood’s 42-7 win over Holston.


Deacon Beamer – George Wythe completed 8 of 16 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns in the Maroon’s 35-0 win over Chilhowie.


John-Luke Asbury – Richlands played only two quarters but was 9 of 11 passing for 211 yards and four touchdowns over the Golden Wave of Grundy. Richlands posted a 56-0 win and held a 49-0 half-time lead.


Nick Blankenship – Richlands also only played for two quarters and posted 118 yards on seven carries and three touchdowns in the win.


Hunter Collier – Gate City lead the way for the Blue Devil’s win over Lee High with 252 yards passing and four touchdowns.


Brady Justice – Hurley carried the ground game for the Rebel’s in the loss to Honaker. Justice rushed for 270 yards and three touchdowns and had TD runs of 56, 97, and 51 yards.


Austin Shortridge – Twin Valley rushed for 154 yards on 16 carries and three scores to lead the Panthers over Thomas Walker.


Jake Sturgill – Abingdon passed for 441 yards and five touchdowns and was 26 of 31 attempts in the Falcon’s win over Virginia High. Sturgill also rushed for one score and a two-point conversion in the 43-7 win.


Derrick Yates – Abingdon had seven receptions for 146 yards and three scores. The scoring receptions were for 15, 18 and 54 yards respectively.
