James wood @ Sherando! in the heart of Shenandoah Apple country!
here is some country for you Dinwiddie country boys. You will see camo fans at this game! Sherando homecoming this week, will be bringing in James Wood who is had a rough start to the season but ias history tells you James Wood always finds a way to stay in this game most years. Last year, most recent Sherando playing flat forest of the game went up against a inspired JW team that almost sent the Warriors home with a L. This year both teams have had to overcome challenges , JW low on Depth and football talent. Sherando losing close games to good teams. I don't think JW has enough to stay in this one this year, and look for the. Warriors to stay focused. I since the young boys for the Warriors have realized that just because you put a uniform on , it doesn't make you good. Shruikan, daboyz, new guy, what's your thoughts? I am going with a warrior win around 45-14.

This one will get ugly in a hurry.....hard to tell final score but running clock in the 2nd half for sure. JW lost to Warren County for goodness sake

I think it will be ugly. I would put JW a few notches ahead of a team like Washington out of West Virginia. I predict 54-0 and that's if they put on the brakes. I see Sherando at 6-4 but I hope Fort Hill realizes they better come to play. Handley is on their 4th Qb a freshmen I don't see them doing much this year but I think they'll be much improved next year.

I knew the first two got hurt in the Clarke game, never heard what happened. Are they ok?

The starting QB didn't play against Clarke he's out for a couple more weeks. The other two I'm not sure how long they'll be out but I don't think they'll play this week.

Sorry to hear about your QB issues, hate injuries, we have been effected with some this year also. Yeh they are good definitely will have to bring the A game that week , but 6-4 is not to bad considering the schedule and the youth on the team. Would like to see it better, but have to take it and build on it for next year.

James Wood is better than Washington, but not by terribly much. But in recent years, the games have either been decided by one score or by more than three. Very few 28-14 type games. It's either a nail-biter or a blowout.

For example, there have been several years where Sherando is on a different level than their cross county rival, but the game ends up being close regardless. See below:

2015:
Sherando (9-2) - 14
James Wood (5-5) - 10

2011:
Sherando (7-4) - 21
James wood (4-7) - 14

2010:
Sherando (8-3) - 14
James Wood (6-5) - 7

2009 (Playoffs):
Sherando (9-3) - 13
James Wood (7-5) - 7

2009 (Regular Season):
Sherando (9-3) - 21
James Wood (7-5) - 17

2007 (Playoffs):
Sherando (14-1) - 21
James Wood (8-3) - 14

In comparison, the other scores over the same period were 50-14, 41-6, and 44-7. There have been more close games than blowouts. It amazes me that in the 23 years Sherando has been open, they are 21-2 against James Wood, despite so many games being decided by one touchdown or less.

While the past doesn't affect this week's game outside of the rivalry atmosphere, I bring it up because there has only been one year since 2007 that James Wood has had a team on equal footing with Sherando over the entire season. That was in 2008, a game James Wood won 17-14 (their other victory over the Warriors came in 1993, the year Sherando opened). This year both teams don't look all that different if you just look at their records.

James Wood stands at 1-4 and Sherando isn't much better at 2-3. That being said, Sherando's losses came to Louisa, Martinsburg, and Eastern View, who combined have a record of 14-0. James Wood has lost to Heritage, Warren County, Strasburg, and Hedgesville (WV). While I mean no disrespect to any of those schools or their fans, they simply aren't comparable to the competition Sherando has faced thus far. If Sherando played James Wood schedule this year they would be 5-0 and would likely have an average margin of victory somewhere around 35-40 points.

History would say that this will be a close game. Typically when both schools have a similar record, the game ends up being settled, usually in Sherando's favor, by 7 or fewer points. Given however the vast difference in schedule difficulty, I'd say this game will play out closer to the blowout victories I mentioned earlier.

That being said, it is Sherando vs. James Wood, so it wouldn't surprise me to see 14-14 on the scoreboard at the end of regulation this Friday night.
