The Boys of Fall

Very good; thanks for posting. I particularly liked the line
“The old men will always think they know it all.”
That should be pinned to the top of each page here, as our “official” unofficial motto. And of course, whenever I see Peyton Manning talk about kids, I can’t help but think of his fake United Way Commercial.

Continuing in the same vein, here’s a link to another song, this one strictly about high school football. There’s no official video with it, it’s just the song. Sung from the point of view of a former high school athlete a couple of decades down the road, it’s more on the melancholy, contemplative side. From Steve Earle & The Dukes, “No. 29” :

Boys of Fall, what a great tune.
Woodgrove plays this song at the conclusion of every home game!
I get goose bumps every time I hear it.
Man what I would give to be able to suit up one more time and compete with these kids!
The only thing I miss about H.S. is playing football on Friday night!
