I am from the river country of Eastern Virginia (Northern Neck). However, after reading through the posts about the downfall of the Western teams, here is the way I see the geographical breakdown of State titles in Virginia.
1A- The last 6 State titles went to the Western half of the State (according to how I see the line slanted through Charlottesville). Altavista (3 times), GW, Clintwood, & Riverheads. 2008- Franklin from the East
2A- the last 8 State Champions, only 2 winners from the Eastern geographical half of Virginia (Goochland & Essex).
So Western football looks pretty healthy to me.
