Too Early for a Shenandoah District Football Discussion???

Wilson’s new look O was on display in the scrimmage last night against Lunenburg and I thought they looked good. Freshman QB with a solid arm and very good reads on the multiple option plays. Future certainly does look to hold possibilities and I will already give the staff some credit for these changes. (Of course that QB was groomed in the Red Teams LL, gotta get that in here, lol) I think they will surprise anyone that is looking past them as an easy mark. Good luck

Welcher, played a few years in the Red Team LL program. He can spin it for sure. Not sure of the logistics of how he ended up at Wilson but he is a good QB and for that matter Pitcher. That was just one of the high points for the green team. The WR/SE were effective and the backs that toted the rock made good cuts. The line play was the biggest concern in my opinion the last few years because the double wing/wingt or any of those type offenses require precision and technique, which I didn’t see. Last night there was some glaring changes with splits and such that seemed to make a world of difference. It was only one scrimmage and not the be all end all but I was legitimately impressed by the changes.

The QB is a Soph. and actually has his roots in the Lee/Wilson district. His father is a Wilson Grad. I know he played for Staunton for the majority of his early playing days. I was told they thought he moved to Riverheads district his last year of LL but I am not positive.
The defense again is where I think we are going to get have to play much better. I thought we flew to the ball and tackled well during the scrimmage. Hearing pads pop on D for the first time in a while was a beautiful sound. There are challenges ahead but like you pointed out, I do not think anyone can just circle a W on us for the season.
Talking to some last night close to the program, we have some very good upperclassmen with leadership and some younger guys with talent. Everyone has been working hard and I thought it showed.
I think the entire district once again is very good. It will be tough to beat any of the top 3 but we will see.

All of us understand that we are currently in the middle of a two-year cycle and that this upcoming year everyone will stay where they are. But what Baseball215 had found, and I checked it after he pointed it out, was that the VHSL has already posted on its website the new proposed district alignments that would take effect in the fall of 2019. I think the website further states that whatever changes they make will be in effect for a four year period, meaning 2019-2020, 2020-2021, 2021-2022, and 2022-2023.

So again the question remains.......Is that their final decision for that next cycle of changes or is it just a current proposal that is on the table? Has a final vote been taken? Does anyone know?
It is a 4 year cycle, but if there is a drastic increase, they can be moved up mid-cycle. That was necessary for those Loudoun schools that go from 1000 to 2500 really darn fast.

I was mistaken, you are correct about the QB being a Soph. He did play baseball for several years in Staunton and I am aware of where his roots are. His dad was a dominant pitcher in his day for the Hornets. He did play two years in Seniors for Riverheads where he was QB and FS. Solid player and only one piece of the new look they have. Again I think things are looking up for the Green Team.

He played one year of Jv baseball at Riverheads. He is definitely an athlete to watch in football and baseball.

Lee will be good. I think they are the wild card. Lots of talent there. Just depends. If they play up to potential and manage to stay away from major injuries, I stick them in 2 or 3 spot in the conference. 2a is stacked this year and will be tough come playoff time.

Here is how I see things turning out. But I'm no nostradamus.

1. Riverheads
2. East Rockingham
3-6. Buffalo Gap, Luray, Robert E. Lee, and Stuart's Draft
7. Wilson
8. Page
9. Stonewall Jackson

Correct, you are no Nostradamus. You couldn't pick a game correctly after the game was over. Kidding of course, but serious, "we can all" admit your game picking record just isn't there.

Gunz. Wow my friend. I didn't know you were so sensitive. Anger is an ugly thing. Hope you get it worked and will truly be able to discuss objectively without malice. Hey. have you seen that clip with Draft and Richlands?. It's a crazy finish junior.

Yep I have. I'm done with you little boy, troll, whatever you want to be called. I am absolutely done with your little schick on here trying to bully people and then try to call out someone for nothing. You have said so many horrific things on here and you want to follow me. I'm flattered, but I dont need the attention.

I am tired of being nice to you. I have heard from many that absolutely have no use for you and your posting on here. So since you want to keep on, I will finally let you know your reputation. You have went on and on about this and that, you are so smart, hideous posts because people like their team, accuse people of things that are absolute false, tried to tell lies, etc. Not only for someone thinking their team was good, but threatened to beat someone up, even told someone they were narcissistic and felt entitled because they thought a game should be played somewhere.

All ANYONE has to do is go look at your history and they will see the ridiculous amount of hate you have posted on here. That is up to them.

So follow me around all you want. Think you are smarter and tougher all you want, but EVERY TIME I read you post over the line in the future, I will remind you of your disgusting past on here and remind you that you are growing even more unlike on here.

For 99.9% of people on here, I will still be the same person who posts things and be positive for the kids and teams, and crack jokes from time to time, YOU- not a chance.

Good day and God Bless

Angry guy you are. No need to troll. I will keep you in my prayers since you got religious at the end of your post, but that was after you called me several names.

I like the fact that admins here let things go for the most part, but at this point, I'm seeing a pattern of harassment. Can someone please put lucus in time out?

You are right about one part...harassment, but got the wrong dude. Not to mention name calling. Gunz, you entered my thread......im entering yours. I'm Trumpish...strong finisher.

So, your saying you don't like the Donald and we're not good friends? Dude, you need a Blood Pressure pill. I still sense anger. I will pray for ya.

Gunz41 & lucustookis,

Guys, start a new thread titled, "Gunz41 vs lucustookis", where you guys can go at each other all year long, but stay off the threads where real football should be discussed. The last 10 or so replies between you guys have nothing to do with football whatsoever. I come on here to read about Shenandoah District Football like the thread says.
If anybody is interested in following you guys, they can read it on your new thread and not on a thread intended to discuss football. Just a friendly thought. Thank you.

Fair enough Shendistrictsportsfan. My top 4 are Riverheads, then East Rock, then Lee, then Luray. I just don't see Lee slipping as far as many think. They have to much talent. Even if...it is young talent. I think some have Draft picked a bit high. I just don't expect to much from them this year. But, these are only my opinions.

Thank you. Good post. Like your thoughts.

Well, it’s good to be back gentlemen :)

Unfortunately I have absolutely zero insight into anything football related as work and racing have taken me away. Here’s to hoping the new look Hornets shock a few people!

Congrats on your announcement @Trevor_Cash, maybe I can run into you at a game this year.

Appreciate it sir! You see that pretty thing? I definitely got lucky! Currently work 2nd shift so Friday nights off for me just don’t happen. If I’m lucky I’ll rock this follow up interview next Tuesday and find myself at an even better place!

I have lived in Luray sine 1989. My daughter graduated from Luray. I really love the school. But after watching their scrimmage on Thursday, they just don't have the same playmakers or lineman that they had last year. The offense is still good. The players execute it well. But the talent level is not the same as last year, unless they have a lot of players who did not play in the scrimmage.

Page-Luray game could be interesting this year.

I was at the scrimmage Friday against the Streaks. It answered some lingering questions about Lee.
1. Not quite as much size, speed or experience but enough to win.
2 Streaks are good :) Bonus quote.
3. Better kicking game / Punting o.k.
4. Will Dodd is a dual threat type q.b. Really good arm.
5. Even with their best running back out, Lee is deep enough.
This team will compete!

That's about what I expected. Two things happened recently that make Staunton competitve: Dropping to D2 and hiring Girolmo. I expect to see the Leemen in the playoffs every year. There's a lot of talent in this town and they can be as good on turf as they are on hardwood.

One more thing. The Lee lines are still coming around. They have a way to go and they are young. Depending on how long it takes, they could drop a few games. Still, if they could manage to win 3 of their first 4 or there about, it would bode well as they will only get better as the season progresses.
