Union came out on the first possession with a backboard-shaking 2 handed ally oop slam. GC answered pretty quick and then took the lead and didnt give up the lead the rest of the game.
GC was up 28-18 at the half and came out and blew a double digit lead with 4 missed free throws in a row and a few bad passes under the bucket that would have led to easy layups. Same song and dance as the first meeting between these 2 teams. Union responded quickly with some big 3s and some buckets in the paint and kept it close until the final minute. Barnes made a big 3 pt bucket with around 3-4 mins left to put the lead to 5 then the Devils started holding the ball and made some big free throws to extend the lead and put the game out of reach.
I expect the Devils will have to play Union again at some point. Very hard to beat a team 3 times in the same season if your not 30 pts better. Should be an interesting early post season for sure in SWVA.
