Looks like there's going to be a lot of wet fields this week for the games. Could this be problems for some favored teams?

GW/Tunstall could be. I picked GW in the pick em only because they usually are hard to beat at home. Tunstall could very well beat them. GW's secondary is sad. I hate to talk about the kids, but GW's secondary is usually their strong point. Gave up 196 yards passing to Franklin County and Glass and Charlotte Vance had their way with them.

I think Charlottesville will be a tough out in the West come playoff time. Should've beat GW in the 2013 playoffs when you all had Leon and Thurston. Athletes all over the field pretty much every year.

Folley is for real and Neale is finally our QB. We'll see, we have to make the playoffs first. I remember that game, y'all knocked us out in basketball that year too

Yessir! This past year I thought you guys could make some noise in basketball but had to play at GW for the conference semi's. They don't lose at home in basketball or football, unless they just have the worst game of the season. They may very well have to come to you guys in November. I think C-ville will be 8-2/9-1 and have a home playoff game.

We were pretty good in bball last year, went something like 20-6, but it stunk for us GW is in our conference now. I think we'll go 7-3 in football this year. We'll lose to Powhatan and Louisa, and Dominion already beat us.

Yeah it should be GW and C-ville for conference championship this year. Glass should be good but I think y'all bring back a lot. GW is probably the favorite to win states all they lost their best PG to Hargrave. But I can see y'all beating Powhatan. I'm going out there with Hoos next week to check the Louisa/Powhatan game out. I think Powathan will struggle with C-ville's speed.

I also just remembered the Powhatan game for us is homecoming, so that'll help. I think we'll find out a lot from that LC/Powhatan game next week.
As far as bball goes, we only have 2 returning full time starters, but we have a few part-time starters back and all of our bench, plus a few really talented underclassmen, even a freshman or two, coming up. Glass will be good though, I think Gilbert is back right? And they're really well coached.

Gilbert and Bolden will be back. Both very skilled players with size. Glass will be missing Malik Knox and TJ Jones so I don't see them beating C-ville or GW. But you're 100% right, Glass is well coached. I watched a little of the Powahtan tape and they are a little slow. Can't be that slow because they beat Hopewell. They look well coached and disciplined. If they let WA give them a game then I doubt they'll be all that. We'll see!

As far as Basketball up here in the northwest part of the state I expect Loudoun Valley and Handley to be really good.
I went to the GW/Loudoun Valley game this past February and those Valley boys are the truth! Blew GW out the gym, Valley couldn't miss. Nick Ball, Jamir Degree, and Jalen Williams are all just nasty! I thought they were the best team hands down last year. Too bad Monacan upset them. I would've loved to see a Valley/GW rematch. I expect them and GW to be the fighting for the #1 seed this year in the West. Not sure about Handley but I know they have a good program and they don't lose in that gym up there. That 2013/14 team was probably one of the best teams I've seen in the past 3-4 years.

@Daboyz19 What will Millbrook have? They was giving GW the business until that PG I mentioned earlier that's going to Hargrave took over (Camryn Lewis). Had 19 straight points for GW and they beat Millbrook. I know Donte Weaver is gone but they usually have a nice squad too.

Millbrook will be ok. Handley is young, but they're going to be good. Loudoun Valley will be #1 team. John Champe might have a bit of a down year. GW is always good, I can see them in the state final, but I don't see them beating LV. Byrd and Fleming are always good as well.

@DanvilleSportsHead Cville was really good 2 years ago. We finshed the regular season 19-1 and we took a 24-1 record into the regional semifinals against EC Glass, back when Tai-He Jeter was a senior. Unfortunately, our starting point guard and best player was suspened the game before for committing a team violation. We still beat Millbrook (led by Zach Harell) without him, but we weren't enough to take out Glass, we lost 58-54. I don't think we would've beaten Norcom, but if that point guard had played throughout the tournament, I think we could've made some noise in states.

I agree. LV is going to be stacked. GW has to stop being a "me" team at times. I saw a lot of bickering at each other and "since you getting yours, I'm going to get mine" ball at Loudoun Valley. Can't do that and win the big game. LV is a system team. They're not fancy, a lot like the Spurs. They just play good team ball and play defense. I forgot about LCA. They'll be another team in our conference that'll be good.

Tai-He was a great high school player. He could play all 5 positions. If his hand would've been 100%, I could see Glass beating King's Fork and Norcom to win it all. GW was fortunate that they didn't play y'all in the playoffs. Y'all would've beaten the snot out of them. They got Chancellor and Woodgrove and then played Glass for the West championship. Wasn't a good GW team at all. All of the seniors this year started on that team as sophomores (Pat Robinson, Cayman Wilson, Amardius Jones, and AJ Myler who was the only one who didn't start).

Handley doesn't have a lot of size but have been well coached while playing with Erick Green Rising Stars for many years.
When GW played them Soloman Finley and Bam Bam Jackson were unguardable. Could tell they were well coached and put their time in. I have no doubt that Handley will be tough this year. Those undersized teams are some of the toughest teams and LV is a prime example of that.

Back to CulpGrad's opening statement, it's all but a guarantee most grass fields will be soggy Friday night. I guess we will see a few games moved to Saturday or Monday.

What games do we know will be played on turf, and most likely will not be affected?

John Champe vs. Skyline will be on turf. I don't imagine the weather will affect the outcome. Sadly.
