Folks...don't get on here and "nit pick" any of these selections...its a hard task, from all-district on up, and of course there will be disagreements and some guys left off that likely are deserving. Congrats to the ones selected .. I am sure you all have already had successful seasons. Team-wise Sherando is AA king, Tunstall not far behind as well as a few others I'm sure.
Be thankful that high school baseball is quite competitive in this state. I remember when it was just an after-thought.
Players returning for next season...work hard, Think of all the ways you can become a bit better and lead your club down the championship path.

Well, this long-time high school baseball follower is going to give his opinion. First, congrats to all that made it, but I'll put Carney up against any second baseman in AA, at least with his bat. How in Hades could he only get an honorable mention nod? That's just insane! And just as big a travesty is leaving a 10-0 pitcher that out-pitched the voted state player of the year in the state championship off the first team, and I'm speaking about Bentley. He shut Tunstall down completely over the last three or four innings last week with the outcome still in the balance. That's just one example but this kid was consistent all year and really pitched big in the playoffs, regionals on through. At worst, they both should have been second team all-state. One out of five all-region kids made the first team. The kids got the shaft, they had the stats and they were consistent all the way through. Bet in other years some of those other powers like Turner Ashby and Tunstall loaded up on the first team when they won AA. Come on now, you "folks" know Sherando deserved better.

First off, the All-state team is based on ratings the players received from their own region not soley on their performance in the state tournament. The players you mentioned were not rated as on the top players in their region by the region coaches. And as for Bentley shutting Tunstall down, you must have watched a different game than I did. Tunstall had runners all over the bases in the first 4 innings and did not get the big hit. They were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and that had a lot to do with the infield play of Sherando. If anyone was shutdown it was Sherando. They only had three runners reach scoring position all day after running Region III player of the year out of the game the day before with 11 hits in 5 innings. They had 3 hits in the first 5 innings against Tunstalls Simpson and struck out 9 times for the game. This from a team with close to a .400 batting avg.
In the end Sherando got the big hit when they needed it and won the game, but by no means was Tunstall dominated.
Congrats to both teams and all selected to the all-state team.

Guess you did not read my post all that well because I said Bentley shut Tunstall down over the LAST four innings. I know your team left some runs out there. It took Bentley a while to get in a groove and your team missed plenty of chances. You can't keep messing up those chances and expect to win. Simpson is a good pitcher and he got beat 2-1. Tough luck for him. Bentley didn't have his best stuff until late (think he struck out the side in order in the sixth, too) and still beat your team because his defense worked, friend. And I checked the list and saw that ALL the regions first-teamers were represented for selection, first team through honorable mention. I never said Tunstall was "dominated" so don't put words in my mouth. It was probably one of the best state championship games played in years down there.

Just read the script a little better next time. Go Spartans! LOL!

Guess you didn't read mine too well either. Each region ranks their players after the all-region team is selected. They can rank 3 players as a 1 meaning that they are the best overall in that region. They then can rank 3 players a 2 and 3 players a 3. The players you mentioned were not rated a 1, meaning their region coaches felt like they were not in the top three of the region. If any player at the same position is ranked a one , there is no discussion, that player gets first team. If there are matching numbers stats are looked at and there is a discussion.
Go Trojans!

It's ok, Tunstall can have the player, we are HAPPY WITH THE CHAMPIONSHIP! Even though the player of the year was beaten when it mattered most.

Congrats to Mr. Smallwood for 1st Team Selection

Congrats to the other players that received 2nd or Honor Mention.

Wonder why Sherando gets a lot of hate?^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

21 base was not agreeable with the all state picks. I don't really care, we got the hardware. I know who the two most important players were who helped get that ring for the Warriors, unfortunately they were not eligable for the player award. The team winning was good enough for me. Stop trying to stir crap up.
