W&L v Essex???

In an outsiders opinion, Essex at home is going to be a handful. W&L has played and beaten a team that beat Essex but that seems like many moons ago. I say the edge has to go to Essex with home field being worth 3pts.

WnL beat KW on the road and Essex took a L to them at home. I think this is a toss up but leaning towards WnL.

Let’s not forget that the Essex/KW game, Essex had 5 turnovers I believe. All why driving and I believe on KW side of the 50. A fumble right before the ball crossed the goal from the 1 and a pick 6 called back really hurt.

The W&L/KW game, I understand that KW had a bunch of turnovers that helped doom them.

The Essex defeat to KW and the KW defeat to W&L probably were the poorest performances by the losing teams all season long.

I’ve been waiting on this game. As you all know, I’ve said W&L is the team I’ve been peeping out to maybe defeat Essex in the NND. We’ll find out in about 13 hrs.

I’m disappointed in the NN district, if Essex wins it validates for me that the NN is not as good you believe, Essex has a very young team , this year was supposed to be year that Essex didn’t factor in the mix of sorts, if Essex wins the district you guys will continue to be under the feet of Trojans for the see able future. Everyone else playing for 2nd place over there is the normal I assume ? I’m quite sure some will come after with excuses without results or facts , go find that local reporter to write the post season feel good narrative on the how great the NN is , no shade I didn’t have my coffee this morning.

I cant speak to all of the NN teams but we all know what Essex brings year in and year out. They are as good as anybody in the state consistently for the last decade plus. My opinion having seen W&L is that they are going to give them a game this year. If they allow last weeks loss to Rapp to drag them down then it would surprise me. Will they win? I give them a punchers chance. I have to think Rapp is a quality team based on them defeating W&L as well. So that's three legitimate teams fighting for region A and the title in the neck. CB and Northumberland are a few steps behind that lead group but could surprise someone in the playoffs if the breaks fall their way.

@trutiger16 The Northern Neck is 6-2 vs. your Tri-Rivers this year. The only 2 wins by the TRi-Rivers are by Sussex against a winless Lancaster team and a 1 point win against a .500 Colonial Beach team. So to be disappointed in the NND if Essex wins, you should be disappoint in the TRD for the poor showing against the NND.

FACTS...

LOL good move to validate the fact you consistently dominate a weak division , The the Tri-Rivers in a down year is more competitive when add in 2a Brunswick 3a Park View & Greenville, Then don’t forgot Franklin who dominated Essex last year and made them change there offense. The NN this year is the best you will have to offer for some time. I do love the Ginger Ale Trojan , I’m pulling for you win the NN so I can say I’m right !

Man I was all in on Rapp winning the State this year .

With the exception of about 2 or 3 seasons, Essex has been a force not only in the NND and Region A, but in the state rounds as well. This has been the case since about 2006 when we were 2A on down to when we moved to 1A in 2013. Most of those years we’ve been 1of the last 4, 2 or 1 team(s) left standing. That looks to me that Essex has had some good dominate seasons across the board, not just in the district. During that time, we’ve knocked off some pretty dominate Sussex teams during that time.

Just because you have a couple 2A & 3A teams in your district doesn’t mean your district is stronger. Especially when they are not dominant 2 or 3A.

Yes Franklin beat Essex in game 2 last year. For the record....Franklin didn’t make Essex change their offense. Essex fell to them in week 2 last year. Essex changed their offense around game 6 or 7. Since you bringing up last year... let’s not forget that the #1 seed Franklin (9-1) TRD team, got upset by the #8 seed W&L (4-6) NND team, in the 1st round of the playoffs. Ford for Franklin was out injured in that game but at least 3 W&L starters were out too.

Who wins & why? Huge implications in this one seeding wise for Region A.
Im going with Essex by at least 3 tds. Essex is a physical team offensively and Defensively. IMO region A is weak with the exception of Essex. Im basing that off of personally seeing W&L and CB. I thought both were soft, so I see Essex totally dominating this game. No disrespect to anybody just my opinion.

Way off the topic of the original post but how many seniors are on the K&Q team? I seem to remember someone stating the QB and several skill players are freshman. If that's the case the region may have new representation very soon.
KQ has 7 seniors. The biggest impact will be felt on the line, where they lose 3 starters, including Xavon Montgomery, who also is an all state caliber defensive end who has over 100 tackles and about 14 sacks thus far. But currently the qb is a freshman, one of their RBS is a freshman, their center is a freshman, their 2nd leading wr is a sophomore and two other wrs are freshmen with one of those also the starting MLB. Next year's rising 8th grade class is pretty talented as well. Definitely will miss this year's senior class though as they have been great leaders, but the cupboard isn't bare.

Wow all those freshman playing varsity and they still have a JV team? That's awesome how is the JV doing?

Unfortunately there wasn't a jv team this year. Didn't have enough. We had one last year and plan on having one next year. Just one of the pitfalls of only having 150 kids in the whole school.

But the varsity starts 4 freshmen and 1 sophomore on offense and 3 freshmen and 1 sophomore on defense with others who don't start but are contributors. But this has been a special senior class and they are going to be missed next year. But plenty of football left to be played this year, so we will worry about next year once this season is complete.

I certainly hope Rapp gets a shot at Riverheads.

Ok I nice excuse as usual ( yawning) Franklin layed that wood on Essex last year and yes your team was different from that point, I never put down your Team not one time , what I did say was if the teams in NN don’t take advantage this year of your youth, Essex will dominate for a very long time , meaning the in My opinion the NN is weak.

Didn’t say you put Essex down. But you did put the district down. So all I did was point out NND 6-2 record this year against your TRD. But...you went off subject and started talking about LAST year and what Franklin (Not Sussex) did. Good luck to your tigers with their big game tonight.

What I was pointing out to you is, before you talk down another district, make sure yours is doing better.
Yours brought all the hype this year , like I said with your win tonight proves my point the NN is weak

@trutiger16 Ok we’re weak..but let’s not forget who’s responsible for that 1 on your Tigers 7-1 record (before tonight’s game). So I guess that makes your Tigers weak right? Essex beat them too.

Essex has no competition in the NN , you know that man so stop trying to build the league up , look at your dominance truthfully? You have had my Tigers number lately but you own the NN and will do so for years to come we all know it , you know it come on Trojan stop being so humble man .

Anyway @trutiger16 sorry your Tigers fell short tonight. Good game to get y’all playoff ready.
Thanks and same to you , but I wonder I would Essex do as member of Tri-Rivers it’s easy to dominate the Rec ball offenses in NN.

Because I live and work in the TriRivers area I think I see where TruTiger is coming from. I think 4-5 teams have won the district over the last 8-10 years, Park View, Sussex, Brunswick, Southampton, Franklin, maybe another team...All to say the TRD crown is more of a free for all on the year to year basis.

Now for the NND Essex has dominated the district championship races, but there is a lot of good football being played and Essex doesn't win every game. Doesn't mean the TRD is a better league, just more competitive.

what Essex would do vs TRD schedule and what would WL, Northumberland, CB, Rapp do in TRD play, or Sussex, Franklin, Brunswick, PV in NND games?? Fun discussion.

You are correct I’m not putting the NN down at all , it’s some darn good programs over there , but none outside of Essex can compete outside of the NN on the state playoff level due to the rec ball offenses.

Those “Rec Ball Offenses”from the NND went 6-2 against your TRD so cut out the foolishness. You just made yourself look silly with that comment.

Each school in the NND have their sport(s). Essex has just been better at football for the last 10-12 years than the others. When it comes to Basketball, Essex have their good and bad years but Lancaster and Northumberland seem to be the top dogs in that sport. Baseball, Softball...Essex is a hit or miss but Rappahannock always seem to be strong each year. Same with all the other sports. Some schools are just better at one sport than others. It’s as simple as that. If you noticed over the last few years, across all sports in the NND..we’ve won some State Championships (teams or individuals) or got runner- ups in many sports.

The narrative here is Essex dominance in football don’t try to change that what are you not proud of that ?

Another silly post. So if Sussex was winning the TRD mostly every year....are you telling me you wouldn't be proud of that?! C’mon Man!!!! Do you think Alabama not proud to win the SEC yearly, Patriots winning AFC East and so on. It is what it is. Essex won’t be the top dog in the District or Region forever. We’ve been on the down side of things before. It will come again one day. Just wait your turn. :);)

Dam right I would , but why you act like you are ashamed of your dominance over the NN ?

My mistake. Guessing the 8th graders are playing pee wee/pop warner/ rec ball?

WHAT?! Where in ANY of this thread did I say I was ashamed?! Hahahaha!! Man you are really reaching. Lol. I’m done. Enjoy your day @trutiger16. All love for ya bro. Lol
Trojan Love you back my brother ! As you know I go hard for mines no shame here , you did not directly say it but your words and mannerisms day other wise.
