I would call this the NND Game of the Week (some may disagree). All look interesting though.

2A W&L at Northumberland is a big one for both clubs. Northumberland needs it badly to stay in the hunt to be in the top 6 East playoff teams. W&L is currently just one spot from the 2A East playoffs.

Many doubt that the Indians are for real. They need this victory to establish that they are a strong team and mainly to prevent a major downslide.

The Indians are 5-1, some victories were close as recently posted but two away games were blowout victories (45-12 over Mathews & 42-13 over 4 win Northampton). Also, the Indians racked up 432 yards on offense in an exciting win v private school power Trinity Episcopal. They can be quite good when it all clicks.

Years ago, Northumberland had its best start at 5-0, then fell apart and lost the next 5. That collapse, of course, must be prevented. I would say a win is a must this Saturday v W&L.

As for W&L, forget that they lost big to KG and then to Rapp. New Coach Wild is doing a great job with his team and they appear to be on the upswing with some recent wins. The Eagles dropped 50 on West Point and just defeated a 3 win Lancaster.

W&L QB Carson Bell is currently the top NND QB. Bell has 73 completions for 949 yards (59.3% completion rate, by far the best at this point in the district).

He has three receivers (McNeil, Futch, & Baylor) that are all in the top 3 receiving in the NND. So the Eagles have a great passing game! Also, their running game with Hyde & Bunns piled on 209 rushing yards last game.

The Indians must be ready in the secondary. They really should leave in their top cover men all game against W&L (like Ray Ball!). I still cannot believe that he was on the sidelines for that huge 3rd and 17 Essex pass TD play at the end of the 1st half that put Essex up two scores. Ball leads the NND in scoring (many points while on D).

Northumberland must improve their O line play (blocking has been an issue at times). What is not known is one of the Indians best O and D line has missed the last 3 1/2 games with a crazy suspension for a so so call (what's up with these long suspensions? when one game out is certainly plenty). Also, a starting LB should return soon from an injury.

Should be an exciting game!

I may be wrong but I'm looking for a shootout kinda like last weeks W&L and Lancaster game. Going with the Indians 42-36
