13 to 7 Martinsville is terrible but chatham in no way is dominating.
Martinsville cannot throw the ball, but do pretty good running. Chatham only has one guy that can run the ball #6.
Chatham coach should get flagged for being on the field almost full time.

Martinsville fumbled at midfield with 1.14 to go up 22-21. They had went from down 20-21 to up earlier when Chatham punt snap went out end zone. Chatham thru pick six in final minute to end it.
Very obvious tonight Chatham will not pound Appo in no way shape or form.
Dan River/Appo would’ve been good last year. It will be years before I can see a Pittsylvania County team being on contender level.
Dan River has matched up with Appo pretty good for the past 6 years. Appo almost lost to them in 2016, score was 16 to 14 in a hell of a storm.

Chatham will pound the ball up the middle and sometimes to the side. They might get a few first downs in the first half. But pound Appo and gain yards? Nope. Not gonna happen.
With only Dan River and Tunstall having JV teams and neither JV team being very good, it's going to be some really bad football in Pittsylvania County the next few years. Chatham has one more okay year where they'll beat some bad teams but that's it (and Jack Turner will move on and leave some poor soul taking over a program that hasn't had a JV team in 2-3 years and was all upperclassmen on varsity). Tunstall is pretty young but could be good next year with some growth from underclassmen. Dan River is young as well but they've struggled with some basic things that worry me. Gretna might be the best team in Pittsylvania County after Chatham lost to Martinsville and didn't look good, but without having a JV team I don't know what the future holds for them.
Gretna has a JV team. I know of two games they have played. Think their games get cut the quickest. Supposed to be young talented bunch.

Pittsylvania needs to just consolidate like Henry County did. The school system used to be one of the best in state, now it’s gone to crap. Still light years better than DPS.
There's no chance of that happening. They just renovated the high schools 10 years ago. Student enrollment hasn't dropped but a little. When the casino in Danville opens it'll be the 3rd largest employer in Danville/Pittsylvania County. Neither school system is sure what will happen to its enrollment besides some kind of increase. Consolidation right now would not be the move.
