Thought I'd start it up this week. Couple of TRAP GAMES! Bird/Monacan and GW/Tunstall stand out the most IMO. Syour Fludd is without a doubt one of the best QB's in 4a. Last year Bird put the beat down on the Chiefs, but Fludd did not play. From what DP and BN told me, Bird has a sound defense with scary (literally) good linebackers. This will probably be the best game in the 804 Friday night.
GW is coming off a nice win over an improving Franklin Co team. GW is talented but very young and I'm thinking hard about my pick for this game. For those unfamiliar, Tunstall is no slouch. Their line is huge and their QB is a 6'5 gun slinger. Won't beat GW passing, but they have two very good backs in Trevor Lovelace (speed; do it all back) and Chase Poe (hard nose;old school pound it back) who both will get yards against GW's young pups. Since they renewed the series in 2013, GW has won 26-23, 21-0, and 34-6 last year. These games were closer than the score indicated and GW was A LOT more talented than all of those Tunstall teams ..Tunstall is a program who plays hard and never quits.. A lot of pride and also happens to be my alma mater. They also have one of the better coaches in the area, Coach David Potts who's a defensive guru..Was DC on Tunstall's 2012 state semi team before accepting the HC position in 2014. I really wouldn't be surprised to see Tunstall beat GW and beat them by a couple of scores.
