Thought I'd start it up this week. Couple of TRAP GAMES! Bird/Monacan and GW/Tunstall stand out the most IMO. Syour Fludd is without a doubt one of the best QB's in 4a. Last year Bird put the beat down on the Chiefs, but Fludd did not play. From what DP and BN told me, Bird has a sound defense with scary (literally) good linebackers. This will probably be the best game in the 804 Friday night.
GW is coming off a nice win over an improving Franklin Co team. GW is talented but very young and I'm thinking hard about my pick for this game. For those unfamiliar, Tunstall is no slouch. Their line is huge and their QB is a 6'5 gun slinger. Won't beat GW passing, but they have two very good backs in Trevor Lovelace (speed; do it all back) and Chase Poe (hard nose;old school pound it back) who both will get yards against GW's young pups. Since they renewed the series in 2013, GW has won 26-23, 21-0, and 34-6 last year. These games were closer than the score indicated and GW was A LOT more talented than all of those Tunstall teams ..Tunstall is a program who plays hard and never quits.. A lot of pride and also happens to be my alma mater. They also have one of the better coaches in the area, Coach David Potts who's a defensive guru..Was DC on Tunstall's 2012 state semi team before accepting the HC position in 2014. I really wouldn't be surprised to see Tunstall beat GW and beat them by a couple of scores.

@HoosFan05 I wanted to let you know that @DinwiddieProud helped with the East game selections the last 2 weeks, so he certainly deserves a lot of credit for making the Pick em good this week. I will probably be changing some of my picks before Friday because there were so many games I felt could go either way. Of course, I always like to 2nd guess myself with the Pick em, several times I have changed my picks for improvement and several times changes to my detriment .

I'm really thinking about making a last-minute change to WA over Powhatan, but it usually comes back to bite me. Decisions....

Okay, I changed it. WA destroyed Powhatan's secondary last year, I feel like they might handle them this time, too.

I believe we are waiting on the results of 5 games to be played on Monday night. I'll try to tally up the results as soon as I can thereafter.

Nevermind, it appears to be a typo on the scoreboard forum page. It is tomorrow at 6.

Now with Hurricane Matthew will Friday's games be moved up to Thursday?

Is hurricane Matthew expected to hit the beach area? Will be out that way for soccer tournament.

The forecast models consensus as of an hour ago has it reasonably off shore but I would expect a good rain and some wind the entire weekend in VB.

Yeah, I'm watching it close. I think we are still ok for the most part, but I didn't like seeing the track models shift a little west. Worrisome!

Lafayette, I guess any of the teams playing Monday don't have the option to consider moving the next game up to Thursday. Could be some games played in the rain and mud this weekend.

Yeah I guess it would be unfair of us to ask Grafton playing on Monday to play again on Thursday, though I do not know what the rules may say for moving the game time by the home team. I know when Warhill was the home team and moved the start time from 7 to 8 because of heat I was told that was solely the decision and descretion of the home team.

The James River/Monacan game is intriguing. James River is a pretty decent team. They can score. But the defense is a little shaky. Monacan is 5-0 with PF 256, vs PA 71. But three of their opponents were really, really weak.

If you believe that a Richmond are 6a team brings a little more to the table than a 4a team, then Monacan's better record is offset a little.

I'll probably be wrong, but I think this game is a "pick one".

Since my son and I will be heading down to beach area on Friday. What would be a good game to catch down here. Suggestions?

Salemgal, you might could help them suggest a game if you say something like "I'll be in Norfolk", or "near the oceanfront in Va Beach". Not even counting traffic, it can be an hour and half plus, drive from one part of what us "non-tidewater residents" call the beach area, to another part. I'm guilty. I think of everything from Chesapeake to Yorktown, from the bay to Suffolk, as "beach area".

Well my hotel says Norfolk/VA Beach and I know we are about 10 miles away from Lake Taylor high school(only reason I know this is they are playing games there for the tournament) I was hoping Lake a Taylor was playing at home bc that's a school I know in that region but they are away. But would love to see other 4A team from the east

In my area the beach area means within the large VB city limits, the rest is called Southside- Suffolk, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth. Hampton to Williamsburg is Tidewater. Confusing to many.

Too confusing for this country gal

Grafton at Lafayette is about the best 4a matchup anywhere close to you. I assume it's being played at the Sports Complex in Williamsburg? That is certainly a top notch facility. I'm not sure Grafton will have anything for Lafayette, but it won't be a blow out. You should be seeing two playoff teams.

Kecoughtan at Hampton could be interesting, but that is a 5a matchup. Truthfully though, Hampton should win going away.

Heritage NN at Phoebus should be "the game". But, unfortunately for you it's Saturday at 2:00.

You picked a bad weekend for 4a football down there. What is the competition at LT this weekend?

Yes, the Lafayette/Grafton is at Wanner Stadium in James City County, 5 minutes off Rt 199 close to I 64. Should be a close game.

Beach FC soccer tournament. Huge soccer tournament from ages of 11 to 18. I think it's about 250 teams in tournament.

Wow! I sure hope the weather will cooperate? Best wishes to your grandson.

Oh god no my son not grandson. Don't make me that old yet. My husband keeps on saying grandkids will be soon and I keep telling him to SHUT UP!! Got to get them thru high school and college before that!
