Yorktown's offense controlled the majority of the game but Westfield's defense was able to come up with a huge series on Yorktown's final possession to secure a come from behind win for Westfield, 13-7.

Note: I was unable to locate a good Yorktown roster on line so apologies for not knowing some names of the Yorktown players.

WF took the opening KO and went three and out. YT, starting on their own 39 yard line, advanced to the WF 41 yard line where they faced a 4th and 1 but they were able to convert a run for 10 yards to get a new set of downs. After several plays YT had reached the WF 10 yard line where they faced another 4th down, this time 4th and 9, but the play was unsuccessful and WF started their second possession deep in their own territory at the 9 yard line. After gaining just 30 yards WF was forced to punt and pushed YT back to the YT 29 yard line. On this series, YT's QB Yoest had a long 47 yard run to the WF 23 yard line, then #11 scored on a 16 yard run to give YT the lead, 7-0 (#2 XP) with 7:33 remaining in the first half. WF's next possession ended with another punt, then YT's final possession of the half ended quickly. The first half saw very few penalties and very few passes, so with the clock running almost all the time possessions were at a premium.

YT received the second half KO and after a very good 27 yard KO return YT started their possession near midfield at their own 47 yard line. They advanced to the WF 29 yard line where they faced a 3rd and long. YT's Yoest dropped back to pass and threw a nice pass to #2 in the WF end zone, but close coverage by the WF DB caused the YT WR to juggle the ball before it dropped to the ground incomplete. Now facing a 4th and 9, the run only gained 3 yards and WF took over inside their own 30 yard line. This time WF's offense began to find gaps and they were able to drive for a score to tie the game at 7-7 when WF's Nelson ran it in from 2 yards out (Mattfeld XP) with 1:07 remaining in the 3rd quarter. YT's started their next possession at their 31 yard line and marched all the way to the WF 9 yard line where they had a first and goal. The first YT play was a run that lost a yard, followed by a sack that pushed them back to the WF 18 yard line. After 3rd down gained two yards, YT was looking at a 4th and goal from the WF 16. YT's Yoest rolled out to this left and ran towards the sideline before he rifled a pass to a WR in the end zone that was knocked down by a WF defender. WF ball on their own 16 yard line with about 6-7 minutes to play in the game. Needing a score, WF began moving and reached the WF 38 where they faced a 3rd and three. On this play WF's QB Johnson found WR Weber down the left sideline for a 62 yard TD pass and WF went out in front, 13-7 (Mattfeld XP missed) with 4:56 remaining in the game. The missed XP left YT an opportunity to win the game with a strong drive, and they went to work. YT's #2 took the KO near the WF 20 yard line and appeared to be hemmed in, but a great block and some shifty running sprung him for a huge gain to the WF 42. Helped by a WF penalty on the return, the YT drive would start on the WF 27 yard line with plenty of time on the clock. YT used three plays to advance to the WF 18 yard line where they faced a 4th and one. The 4th down play was a run good for two yards and YT still had a chance to win the game. However, the next four plays were all disastrous for YT. The first play, a pass, was ruled intentional grounding and pushed YT back to the WF 34 yard line. The second play resulted in a sack to push them back to almost midfield, followed by another sack on 3rd down that pushed YT back to their own 40 yard line and facing 4th and 54. After the pass was incomplete, WF took over with just a few seconds left and ran out the clock for a come from behind win.
