South County got the ball first and punted after three plays, but the punt was fumbled by Westfield's Hinton and SC's Veronta recovered the ball at midfield to give SC another attempt. However, SC failed to convert a 4th and 1 at the WF 41 yard line three plays later and WF took over. WF went three and out, giving SC the ball back on their own 16 yard line. SC drove to the WF 26 yard line, where SC's Dunn fumbled to give the ball back to WF. WF again went three and out, giving SC their third possession on the SC 31. This time SC drove into the WF red zone but the drive stalled when the WF defense stiffened and SC settled for a 30 yard Arquiette FG to go on top 3-0 at the 11:43 mark of the second quarter. SC attempted an unsuccessful onside kick and WF started their first drive of the second quarter at midfield. WF managed to get to the SC 6, but was also forced to settle for a 23 yard Delaney FG to tie the game at 3-3 with 6:19 to play in the half. SC would start their next drive on their own 20 yard line and drive to the WF 44 yard line where they were stopped on 4th and 2. WF then quickly drove the field and scored on an 11 yard Asante run to go up, 10-3, at the 1:36 mark and that is the way the half ended.
