Westfield has shown glimpses of improved offensive play the past several weeks and tonight the offense performed well for the entire game, particularly the passing game. Add in a strong defensive effort that was only strengthened by the return of two injured starters who had been out several games, plus three takeaways, and what many thought would be a close game turned into a decisive Westfield win.

In the first half Centreville punted after minimal gains on three of their first four drives. Their third drive of the night ended when Westfield's Free, one of the returning defenders, intercepted a Siler pass on the CV 40 yard line and returned the ball to the CV 20 yard line. A few plays later, Westfield's Cockrill, a tight end filling in at fullback, ran it in from the one to give WF the lead at the 9:01 mark of the second quarter, 7-0. After the 3rd CV punt of the game on their fourth drive, WF put together an 81 yard drive capped by a 65 yard Johnson to Eckert pass play and WF increased its lead to 14-0 with 3:13 to play in the half. CV's fifth and last possession of the first half managed to move 70 yards (aided by 30 yards in penalties on WF) but failed when they could not convert a 4th and 9 at the WF 22 yard line as the half was ending. The two teams went into the locker room with WF leading 14-0.

WF got the ball to start the second half and could not move, the drive stalling at their own 37 yard line, but Delaney got off a 61 yard punt that pinned CV on their own 2 yard line. After CV went three and out WF started their next possession on the CV 35 yard line, where Johnson hit Eckert again, this time for a 35 yard pass play and WF extended the lead to 21-0 with 7:41 remaining in the third quarter. When the WF defense again held CV to a three and out, WF put together a 62 yard drive capped by a 31 yard Johnson to Frimpong TD pass and WF was now firmly in control, 28-0, with 5:29 to go in the third quarter. CV's next possession ended when they fumbled on their own 29, with WF's Morin recovering the ball. After several plays WF's Asante ran it in from 7 yards out and WF extended the lead to 35-0 with 3:01 to play in the 3rd quarter. With a running clock the game now moved quickly, with WF's Cockrill stopping one CV drive with a fumble recovery on the WF 37 yard line and the defense stopping another CV drive late in the game when they stuffed a run on 4th and 4 at the WF 29 yard line.
