South Lakes used a lot of time with a patient ground game in the first half, limiting possessions by both teams. Both teams were able to run the ball well overall, but the difference was the WF passing game and two turnovers by SL to enable WF to gain the victory.

South Lakes took the opening kickoff at their own 31 yard line and immediately went to the ground game. They move into WF territory where they faced a 4th and 5 at the WF 35 yard line. Lining up for the punt, the punter lofted the ball over the line to an open receiver for a 9 yard gain to the WF 26 yard line and SL had a new set of downs. After three plays netted only 5 yards, SL again faced a 4th and 5, this time from the WF 21 yard line. A SL run was stopped 2 yards short and WF took over on their own 18 yard line. WF promptly went three and out, giving SL great field position at midfield. After moving to around the WF 30 yard line, WF's Morin intercepted SL's Miles on the WF two yard line and got a decent return, but a holding call on WF on the run back placed the ball at the WF 18 yard line. WF then marched 82 yards and capped the drive with a 6 yard Kim to Goodman pass and WF jumped in front, 7-0 (Nugent XP), with 9:54 to play in the second quarter. SL started their next possession on the SL 20 yard line but was forced to punt after reaching their own 40 yard line. WF then put together their second scoring drive of the night, this time a 73 yard drive finished by a 12 yard Kim to Morin passing TD and the lead was extended to 14-0 (Nugent XP) with 1:25 to play in the half. WF held SL on the next drive and got the ball back with about 25 seconds to go in the half but did not score. 14-0, WF, half time.

WF's Hinton took the second half KO all the way to the SL 41 yard line. Facing a 4th and inches at the SL 31 yard line WF converted on a QB sneak, then several plays later a 5 yard Asante run extended the WF lead to 21-0 (Nugent XP) with 7:34 to play in the 3rd quarter. SL started their next possession on their own 25 yard line and advanced across midfield, where they faced a 4th and 1 at the WF 43 yard line. A 15 yard run by SL's Earl quickly gave SL a new set of downs, but after three more plays SL faced another 4th down, this time 4th and 3 at the WF 20 yard line. A pitch out was quickly snuffed by the WF defense for a 6 yard loss and WF took over on downs at their own 26 yard line. SL held WF to a three and out, and a short punt gave SL the ball on the WF 41 yard line just after the start of the 4th quarter. After gaining a first down, SL's Shapiro (in at QB when SL's QB Miles left the game earlier with an ankle injury) was intercepted by WF's Moses on the WF 26 yard line. WF then put together their fourth scoring drive, this time a 69 yard drive where WF's Daniel picked up 43 yards on two runs and then Kim found Morin for a 26 yard strike to extend the lead to 28-0 (Nugent XP) with 8:03 to play in the game. SL's next drive went 66 yards for a score, with the big plays being a 4th and 5 conversion at the WF 40 yard line and a 18 yard run by SL's Earl to get SL on the board. The SL XP was good (Robles) and the WF lead was cut to 28-7 with 3:20 remaining in the game. SL attempted an onside kick on the KO and the ball went out of bounds giving WF a short field at the SL 45 yard line. Soon after, Daniel scored on a 29 yard run with 2:04 to play for the final margin of 35-7 (Nugent XP).

Westfield will now play Madison, a 20-10 winner over Centreville, in the Region 6D final next Saturday. These two teams played a hard fought game earlier this year, with WF taking a close 17-15 win.
