William Byrd 4a faces 3a Lord Botetourt this week. The Cavaliers have scored a lot of points against inferior competition and are undefeated but they were involved in close games with William Fleming and a ten point win over Spots Wood . They have a dominating offensive line and big strong backs . Power team. They were in state championship last year and were handled by Magna Vista. They did beat a quick team in Hopewell in playoffs. Botetourt also has to face Staunton River in their last game, no slouch. Staunton River lost to Byrd but it was in the muck on a muddy field. Byrd is a power team also with good defense and they have a very fast runner in Larry Basham , a great RB. All three teams are in playoffs but these games will be interesting the next couple of weeks with playoff implications in 3a and 4a.
