The final quarterfinal game in the Metro Conference tournament turned out to be the most exciting game of the night as Isle of Wight erased a 4th quarter deficit to come from behind to defeat the tournament host school Alliance Christian 71-68.

Grant Worthy had a huge 4th quarter scoring 15 of his game high 25 points in the final frame and the freshman hit some big shots down the stretch. The Chargers trailed the Falcons for the majority of the 2nd half as the Falcons built the lead to 40-31 with 5:51 to go 3rd and they maintained a 54-45 lead with 6:16 remaining in the game. Four quick points from the Falcons extended their lead to 63-56 with 3:21 left in game.

Jordan Baines kept the Chargers within striking distance and Worthy drained a big three to pull the Chargers to within one (66-65) with a minute to go. He then made two free throws to give the Chargers their 1st lead (67-66) of the second half.

Alliance Christian guard Bryce Britt turned the ball over after falling to the ground while weaving thru traffic and the Falcons were called for a technical foul after arguing the non-call. Worthy drained four straight free throws to give the Chargers a 71-66 lead. The Falcons had a chance to tie the game with 1.7 seconds remaining on the clock after two missed free throws from Isle of Wight but a 3-point attempt was off the mark.

The Chargers finished with 11 baskets from behind the arc and they jumped out to an early lead thanks to the junior Brandon Casey who drilled three treys in the 1st 10 minutes of the game. Isle of Wight led 16-12 after the 1st quarter. Casey finished with 19 points and five treys.

Alliance Christian ended the 1st half on a 10-2 run to take a 31-27 halftime lead. Britt drained a 3-pointer to end the 1st half which gave him 17 1st half points. However, he was limited to only four points in the 2nd half and no points in the final period. Point guard Kevin Warner scored 11 of his 15 points in the 4th quarter but he was only 2 of 6 from the free throw line. Seth Baronner scored 12 of his 18 points in the 3rd quarter while adding 12 boards. Freshman Damion Turner scored 10 points with seven rebounds and five blocks.

Worthy added six rebounds and five assists while Baines finished the game with 23 points, 11 rebounds and four steals.
