News Liberty-Bedford Names New Head Boys Basketball Coach

Liberty High School in Bedford, VA announced on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 the appointing of David Williams as their new Head Boys Basketball Coach.

Athletic Director Lori Mattson and the LHS administration knew of Williams, who served as an assistant coach for the school in 2014-15 under Hank Luton.

Williams, 47, is a 1992 graduate of William Fleming High School. He went on to play basketball at Lake City Community College before receiving his bachelor's degree from Radford University.

Involved in the AAU coaching community for years, Williams recently was an assistant at Salem High. At Liberty, he takes over for Randy Dunton, who spent the past four seasons at the helm of the Minutemen.
Williams takes over a Liberty program that did not play a single game during the 2020-21 campaign due to COVID-19 concerns. The Minutemen last had a winning season in 2010-11.
