Yorktown used two big passing plays and some misdirection runs to build a 14-0 halftime lead. Westfield then scored on its first two drives of the second half to even the score before the two teams went to overtime when neither could score on their final possession.
Yorktown took the opening KO at their 35 yard line after the kick went out of bounds and promptly went three and out, with a good punt pinning WF on their own 16 yard line. WF moved into YT territory before stalling and punted to give YT their second possession on their 11 yard line. YT then executed an 89 yard drive with the big plays being a 35 yard pass play and a Yoest 33 yard run before YT's Fang scored from two yards out to give YT a 7-0 lead (Edmeades XP) with 1:25 to play in the first quarter. On the ensuing KO WF's Anderson fumbled on the WF 24 yard line and YT's Westhoff recovered. WF's defense held and YT lined up for a 33 yard Edmeades FG but the kick was blocked by WF's Kennedy. WF got one first down before punting from their own 38 yard line and pinning YT again at their own 11 yard line. After a first down, YT's Yoest found Taylor behind the WF secondary and the play resulted in a 79 yard TD pass. After the Edmeades XP, YT's lead was now 14-0 with 5:47 remaining in the half. WF went three and out on the following possession, followed by a YT punt. WF then took the final possession as the half was winding down and gained some ground before a long Jenks pass was intercepted by YT's Daniels on the WF 3 yard line with seconds left in the half. After a YT knee the teams went into the locker room with YT leading 14-0.

Using over 6 minutes of the clock, WF scored on a one yard Jenks run to cut the YT lead to 14-7 (Mattfeld XP) with 5:29 remaining in the third quarter. YT's next possession ended in a punt and WF took over on their own 28 yard line. This time the WF offense executed a similar drive to their first one of the second half , except they went 78 yards and scored on an 11 yard Nelson run (Mattfeld XP) with 5:55 to play. YT ran three plays that netted 4 yards on their next possession and punted the ball back to WF on the WF 23 yard line. WF also failed to move the ball and punted it back to YT at the YT 32 yard line with 1:16 to play. YT's next play was an incomplete pass but WF was flagged for roughing the passer and YT advanced the ball to their own 47 yard line. On first down a Yoest to Fang pass got them to the WF 39 yard line and another first down. After three plays gained eight yards, YT faced a 4th and two at the WF 31 yard line. Yoest dived through the left side for a four yard gain and a first down but there were only 10 seconds left on the clock. A quick pass inside the WF ten yard line along the sideline was called incomplete so YT send Edmeades out to attempt a 44 yard FG that he pushed wide left as time expired.
