The Westfield defense was outstanding and forced Washington-Lee into several mistakes to open the game, but kept the pressure on all game. On their first possession W-L threw an interception to Westfield's Caron on the W-L 33 yard line that was returned to the W-L 6 yard line, where Beard punched it in on the next play and Westfield was quickly up 7-0 just over 2 minutes into the game. On the very next play from scrimmage, Caron picked off W-L again and returned the ball 22 yards for a TD. After Monticue converted the 2XP attempt Westfield led 15-0 at the 9:22 mark. W-L's third possession ended with a punt after a 3 and out, but the wind held the ball up and W-L lost 9 yards on the play to give Westfield the ball again, on the W-L 21 yard line. Several plays later Scanlon ran it in from 7 yards and Westfield extended the lead to 22-0 with over 5 minutes left in the 1st quarter.

Westfield's Huling promptly intercepted W-L for the third time on the next possession and returned the ball to midfield but a penalty on the return pushed the ball back to the WF 20 yard line. Westfield went on to punt this series, giving the ball back to W-L near midfield, on the W-L 45. W-L again failed to move the ball well and after a few plays had to punt. Westfield's Petrillo broke through and blocked the punt to give Westfield the ball on the W-L 48 yard line. Westfield did not take advantage of this opportunity and, facing a 4th and long tried a fake punt that was stopped short giving W-L the ball on the W-L 40 yard line. This time W-L moved the ball behind the running of Espinoza, who scored on a 9 yard run to cut the lead to 22-7 with 4:29 remaining in the first half. After another failed Westfield fake punt on 4th down, W-L took possession on their own 41 yard line. On the first (second?) play the W-L QB was hit hard by Westfield's Perdomo causing a fumble that was scooped up by Aiello, who took it in from 33 yards out for the TD to stretch the lead back to 29-7 just seconds before the half ended.

The second half saw some limited ball movement by both teams but each team's first two drives ended up in a punt. When Westfield had their third possession of the half, Westfield had a short (46 yard) field and Scanlon hit Rehman Johnson with a 35 yard TD pass to extend the lead to 36-7 with 1:22 remaining in the 3rd quarter. After another W-L punt, Westfield started another drive near midfield that culminated in a 6 yard Beard run to push the score to 44-7 (Huling ran in the 2XP) with 8:17 remaining in the game. The teams started substituting at this point and W-L countered with 2 late scores, a 1 yard run by Espinoza and a 1 yard run by Casey on consecutive possessions, but it was too little too late. Final score was 44-20, Westfield.

Westfield will play South Lakes, a 35-28 winner over Oakton, in the next round.
