Essex 14 Westmoreland 7 Halftime

I was at this game today - my first NND game in many years. The new Westmoreland stadium is very nice and Westmoreland came very close to protecting the house. They had a TD called back with about 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter that would have put them ahead (assuming they make the extra point). Penalties and turnovers hurt both teams at time. Penalties especially hurt Westmoreland on their last drive. In addition to the offensive pass interference that took the TD away, they had a couple more penalties after that and had to punt with just under 2 minutes left when facing a 4th and 30 (or 40).

Were you there kwhs95fan? Do you think Westmoreland moving the ball easily at times through the air, possibly exposed something in the Essex defense? Have a good one!

And I doubt if there are any kids playing football, but you also have the Governor's School.
"You’d be surprised at the number of kids playing for the 5 high schools with teams, actually attend Open, Community or Franklin". Those kids at the specialty high schools can play sports at whatever comprehensive school they zoned in. It is with their help that JM and TJ can put together swim teams.

Region B Ratings and Playoff Matchups

Score was closer than it should have been... MC never stopped BC offensively. MC had two TDs in the first half that both came from long passes on 4th & 12... Take away those two plays and MC has about 50-60 yards of total offense for the game.

MC is a good team and has a chance to make some noise (in my opinion). I think this entire region is pretty even... anybody can beat anybody.
Not that it matters but MC stopped them twice and lead at the half. A fumble on their first drive of the second half basically gave BC a TD. Then MC threw a pick at the BC seven yard line after a long drive… could tied it up there. BC scored with less than a minute to go in the game. It was a one possession game at the time. Like I have said BC is very good and I was impressed with them overall.

Benedictine 4th qtr Comback

Benedictine trailed Trinity Episcopal 28-7 with less than 9 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter and came back to win 29-28. The Cadets make it back to the VISAA State title game to defend their championship

Trinity Episcopal scored 1st on an 11-yard pass from Taegan Logan to Sam DeFrancesca with 2:05 remaining in the 1st quarter.

Benedictine thwarted another scoring chance when Roddrey Mcwilliams who recently committed to James Madison, intercepted a pass. The Titans led 6-0 at the halftime break.

Trinity Episcopal used a couple of pass interference penalties to set a 1st-and-goal from the 4-yard line. Logan ran a quarterback draw for the touchdown and he converted the 2-point run for a 14-0 lead with 7:53 remaining.

The Titans ate up most of the remaining time in the 3rd quarter with a 70-play drive. University of Virginia commit Isaiah Robinson made a great contested grab over a defender for a 15-yard touchdown to extend the Trinity Episcopal lead to 21-0 with only 50 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter.

McWilliams returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for the Cadets 1st points on the scoreboard.

Trinity Episcopal appeared to have the game in hand after junior Carson Parks scored from 7-yards out with 8:57 remaining to extend the lead to 28-7.

A penalty forced the Titans to kickoff from their own 25-yard line and Jojo Johnson took advantage returning the kickoff 80-yards for a touchdown with 8:45 left in the game.

Another penalty gave Benedictine a chance to kickoff from their own 50 yards line and McWilliams recovered the kick at the Trinity Episcopal 25-yard line. Minutes later, Benedictine scored on a short run from Ryker Cook with a little over six minutes to go to slice the lead to 28-21.

Trinity Episcopal only used a minute off the clock and was forced to punt with 5:10 remaining. However, the snapped went over the punters head for a safety to trim the margin even more to 28-23. After the kickoff, the Cadets finally took the lead on a 2-yard touchdown run from Cook with 2:22 remining.

The Titans had one final chance to reclaim the lead and made it to the Benedictine 33-yard line, but one final pass fell incomplete. They can look at their special teams which allowed two kickoff returns for touchdowns, a safety on a bad snap on a punt attempt and an onside recovery late in the game.

Five: Huguenot is the biggest, then RCSA, Thomas Jefferson, Armstrong and John Marshall. They are split up into a couple of different districts.

Henrico County to the north and Chesterfield County to the south have dozens more each, not to mention Hanover, Dinwiddie, Prince George, Petersburg city, Hopewell city, etc….
TJ, Armstrong and JM have Class 2 student populations, the two will join JM next year in Class 2, Region A. Huguenot and RHSA are similar in size (Class 4) but the Bulldogs have a huge Latino population so little football interest but a very nice soccer team awaiting a good coach.
