Region B Ratings 10/11

I've watched Strasburg on NFHS and they look very good to me. The only question mark is opponents who have a combined record of 11 wins and 28 losses.
Agree but unfortunately can only play the teams that will play you in OOD. Coach Lamb is trying to beef up the OOD schedule. One thing for Strasburg is that on both sides of the Los they have some talent and size. Running game and defense play well in colder weather. 2 weeks will be a physical game when they go to Clarke

What caught my eye Week 7?

For me personally, I’m tired of seeing these All-Star stacked high school teams, shellack other high school teams, which consist primarily of local kids who attend the school.

I can’t imagine playing football nowadays, and every now and then, your school has a good crop of athletes.

The only problem is you end up facing teams like Hayfield or Maury (or John Marshall) in boys basketball) and the score ends up being something like last night scores.

To me, it seems unfair, and the playing field is no longer equal.

The fun and the sportsmanship has been lost.

What’s the point of even playing?

Well said and I believe there are others out there who feel similarly, including me. There is already a drop in participation and if you attend a school where you know you are going to get an ass-whooping too often, I understand if a kid does not want to deal with that and, guess what, the numbers drop even more. These all star transfer teams are ruining the game. I think part of it is society's general transition to a "I need to get mine" mentality and straying away from the idea of "what is good for the larger group". Yes, I am older than many but the ethics and morals that the older generations usually possess is not what some - not all - of the newer generations embrace. One can only hope that the powers that be (looking at you, VHSL and local school systems) try to make it right.

Huguenot v Manchester

We need that game. It will be a madhouse. I think Varina vs Huguenot will end up being 2nd round. I don't believe in Matoaca at all and think Dinwiddie will finish 9-1 with 1 seed.
It’ll be hard for any of the teams to jump a 9-1 Dinwiddie. Their OOD itself has 2 losses between the 3 teams plus they beat Dale and has Matoaca left. I think Varina runs the table and Bird/Huguenot is still a toss up for me.

@RVASportsguy I think it’s super close. Varina is the better match up for Dinwiddie. I’d say that Huguenot is the best match up for Varina. It’s a shame that we can’t see all 3 of those match ups this year.

Wow had no clue that Salem’s shootout was with a winless team.
I give credit to Pulaski Co. They came out with a great game plan and executed it. Salem made adjustments in the second half holding them to 7pts. In the first half PC did what they wanted on offense except make extra points and FG

Rappahannock 13 Essex 8 Final

It was Rapp's first win over Essex since 2001. Including playoffs, Essex had won the previous 25 encounters... These two have a good chance of meeting again in the Region A championship game and also both teams are junior heavy and nearly all the key players for both teams return next year
Almost all of those Essex wins were also blowout wins as well (as you know, of course). It was almost always over before halftime.

Folks under 24 had never experienced a Rappahannock win over Essex (like my own two children who went to Rappahannock and are now a senior and sophomore in college).

Crazy if you think about it...

Rappahannock 13 Essex 8 Final

When the loudspeaker in Lancaster announced that Rappahannock had defeated Essex at Essex, basically everyone who was paying any attention at all was like "dang, did they just say that Rappahannock defeated Essex? That must have been a mistake" ha.

I think that I said something loudly like "Holy crap, that's insane." lol

I've heard several people/fans from different Northern Neck schools (including Rappahannock) say basically the same thing - "I can't believe it."

Well done!

Rappahannock 13 Essex 8 Final

I was at the Northumberland at Lancaster rivalry Battle of the Bay. Northumberland won 38-18 and celebrated with that huge wooden trophy shaped like the end of a dock.

Northumberland QB Tyreek Lundy put on a show (4 TDs, 100+ yards rushing plus on defense Lundy recorded 3 interceptions (2 were amazing catches).

Essex comes to Northumberland next weekend.

I was wrong… AGAIN

Rare 5+ minute game highlights. @Phoebus Fan and @CavsGrad WE COMING big homies!

That’s the atmosphere i miss. They’ve literally put all Phoebus games on Saturday afternoons for the last couple of years and it’s usually Phoebus side semi packed and 20 fans on the other side.

Good win for Varina. Hopefully i can get a chance to watch the game. That 4B race will be exciting. I’ll definitely be at that second round game between Dinwiddie, Huguenot, or Varina — that’s if something crazy happens that prevents this game from happening.
