5C Rankings- New Number 1

Your numbers differ slightly from the VHSL numbers for 5C. I'm not saying you're wrong, just the numbers don't match for a couple of teams.

Shenandoah District Has Its Four-Way Tie, So Now What??????

Waynesboro @ Draft- Waynesboro has a way to go but they have help coming up through the youth levels that will be impact players when they get there. Unfortunately for this team that's several years away so look for Draft to run away (literally and figuratively) in this one.

Gap @ Riverheads- This one is going to come down to who can impose their will. Both defenses have played good at times and had moments of not so stellar play. The offenses are similar in that they prefer to bludgeon you repeatedly until something pops. Gap features a strong rushing attack with the occasional pass to keep teams honest with a good to above average defense as well. Riverheads has had to replace several players due to injury and last week finally had a somewhat similar lineup for two weeks in a row. I look for a close game with limited scoring so to me its a race to 21. Objectively I can see a tossup game but holding down a high-powered Staunton team last week has shown that the Gladiator D is getting closer to being ready for post season play. I will go with a Riverheads win but I think its going to be uncomfortably close for the home fans.

Fort @ Wilson- I agree this should be the marquee matchup this week. Wilson gave up a pile of rushing yards to Gap in the first half so the Fort duo of Hebb and Miller should feast if that was the "real" Hornet defense. If however the Wilson defense that limited Riverheads rushing attack a few weeks back shows up, the Fort passing game will need to prove that it was not reliant on Armentrout and has found his replacement for the stretch run. Forts showing against a solid Draft defense should certainly give the Indian fans cause to be optimistic though so this will live up to the hype imo. I will take Wilson in a semi-shootout

Week 7 Thoughts

Week 7 is over and we have some interesting storylines that we need to pay more attention to!

Rappahannock pulls off the upset over Essex 13-8 in which the two highest scoring teams in Region A put on a defensive battle form the looks of the score. Would love to know a little more details about this game. Rappahannock has placed themselves amongst the title contenders in 1A.

Rye Cove is another surprising storyline with their beat down of Eastside. Coming into the season Rye Cove and Rappahannock were after thoughts and now it seems that they will have a say in who will be standing in Salem in December.

Altavista continues to cruise with blowout win over Dan River in which they touched the 70pt mark. Hopefully they don't get complacent bc there isnt much infront of them until they get to the Region B championship or State Semifinals.

George Wythe came into the year with high hopes but stumbled early. It looks like they have the train back on the tracks and are poised to make a deep playoff run.

Buffalo Gap has struggled as of late with 2 L's in a row. With Riverheards up next that number will probably climb to 3 in a row.

Northumberland has been flying under the radar all year and with their only Loss coming to an undefeated Bruton team. They are 4-1 and will take on Essex this week coming off their 1st regular season loss in 26 games. Does Northumberland have what it takes to give Essex its 2nd loss in a row?

I was off on 3 numbers from VHSL. I counted wrong on Clarke. But apparently there has been a game that was originally rescheduled for weather (Amelia vs Nottoway) that has now changed to a forfeit for Nottoway. So I put those in parentheses

Nottoway vs Amelia

Clarke vs Strasburg

So both teams in 2 weeks should be 7-0. With CC playing Page and Strasburg playing Luray this Friday. Should be a huge game at Clarke. I haven't seen any games for Strasburg, just seen comments but coming into the season I figured the district would come down to this game. Both teams love to run the ball and play good defense. Any thoughts? I know so far the only common opponent is KW. That will change this week once CC plays page

These two teams were supposed to have played last night in a game that was previously scheduled for September 30th. However, on Score Stream it said the game was canceled and it also said the same thing on the Amelia Public Schools Facebook page. Then I look on Max Preps and it has it awarded to Nottoway by forfeit. We all know that Max Preps isn't always reliable on things like that. Is there anyone who can confirm if this was indeed a forfeit win for Nottoway or just a canceled game. Either way this will affect the points in power rankings as Amelia was probably favored to win the game, plus Nottoway is only playing a 9 game schedule to begin with.
