Frederick County Finals (10-11-24)

Handley 46, Fauquier 3
Not surprised to see Handley rout Fauquier as they've had a rough year. Seems like most of the talent down that way plays for Kettle Run nowadays. Handley will win any game against any team that can't stop their (Freshman!) QB. If he continues to progress he'll no doubt be a starter in FBS in a few years. Very fast and looks like a seasoned Senior when he throws it. Probably the best Winchester area QB prospect since Metheny.

Millbrook 34, Liberty 22
Liberty used to be the power in their part of the state, and they've fallen a long ways. 0-6 on the year and have their best chance of getting a win against Skyline next week, but they'll be underdogs. I was surprised to see them put up 22 on Millbrook given how their season has gone.

Sherando 35, James Wood 0
This was probably the most ho-hum game I've seen between these two. James Wood had a couple chances at scoring but shot themselves in the foot with stupid penalties and a (very) bad snap. It never really felt like James Wood was in it since they only got the ball to Sherando's side of the 50 a couple times, but it easily could've been a 7-0 game at half (or 28-0 just as easily, had things gone a bit differently on Sherando's first drive). Didn't feel like a blowout. Sherando's defense played well, though I'd argue they're still not battle tested. Could see them finishing 10-0 or 7-3 at this point. Kettle Run next week will tell the tale.

OMG! Salem "D"

The weird part is how well they adjust in the 2nd half.

LCA: 20 points 1st half, 15 points 2nd half
FC: 23 points 1st half, 7 points 2nd half
WF: 12 points 1st half, 13 points 2nd half
NS: 14 points 1st half, 7 points 2nd half
PH: 3 points 1st half, 21 points 2nd half
HV: 6 points 1st half, 0 points 2nd half
PC: 33 points 1st half, 7 points 2nd half

With the exception of the PH game, and that was 34-3 into the 4th, the defense seems to put things together but they just can't come out and start strong most weeks. Is what it is at this point, we'll go as far as the offense takes us.
