4-D playoff match-ups now looking set...ish

Sherando and Handley are very good teams for sure.

I’m a Danville homer but I really don’t keep up with GW Football like I used to (I follow Varina mostly but I get around in the 804). I’ve seen GW play maybe 3 times in the past 5 years in person. Hope they can put the city back on the map and win a few playoff games. Good write up btw.. GW definitely has a lot to prove, especially with the Region going through Danville. Hope they can beat Glass and hopefully Salem, JF, Sherando or Handley. It’ll be huge for the program and community.
Understand the community seeing it as a positive . Good luck

Who you talking too!! I will type whatever I feel like because I'm willing to bet my life you never played a sport a day in your life. Where is your credentials?? Talking people like me. Once again another paraphrase or catchphrase with racial undertones. Expose yourself, because we can take this offline internet man lol. I'm not go do all this back and forth on internet. Like I said. Phoebus is one program that don't need spotlight when it comes to recruiting or transfer topics of attention. If you love your Alma Mater, I suggest you 🤫, before them "people" come down there to Darlington my boy lol.
Please name the transfers and recruits…yall out of town people have no clue what’s going on lol. We literally have two transfers that are backups.

These kids been playing together for 8-10 years…talking about transfers and recruits lol

Ooh, we doing some pre-playoffs smack talk? All right then.

If we're going to be bringing up ancient history, when's the last time Danville made it to the state finals? Or beat Salem? I know you all won a championship back in 1982 (before the parents of some of the players of today were born), and that's great and respectable and all, but if we're going to say that title is relevant to the teams today then James Wood should be considered a powerhouse and your argument that Sherando and Handley haven't played anyone would be moot. But that would be silly, wouldn't it.

Speaking of getting smacked by the "Widdie"-tier teams of the world, let's take a peek at Danville's record against Salem since that beatdown Sherando took. If MaxPreps is to be believed:

2021: 48-14 loss.
2020: 35-21 loss.
2019: 48-21 loss.
2017: 42-13 loss.
2014: 48-28 loss.

Even I'm not a big enough homer to say that Sherando is in a league with Salem, Dinwiddie, Phoebus, etc., but if Sherando isn't then Danville sure as hell isn't either, so I'm not sure where all this confidence is coming from. I don't doubt that Danville has played a tougher schedule than Sherando and Handley have this year, and I'd argue that's true most years given how strong the southern half of the state is, but that hasn't led to much success for Danville when it counts.

Sherando and Handley have good but not great teams this year, but both are better than they're being given credit for.

Bird didn’t impress me at all when I saw them play Huguenot. I think Bird is way more coached up than Herm and I give them the edge. You just never know what you’re getting with Herm. Thought they played scared against Varina and Highland Springs. Definitely got the athletes to compete with anyone in this region.
that is Herm's story in all sports lots of good athletes and not a great deal of coaching. Not close to the situation but have been getting words on the street of political nonsense in hiring.

Glass beat Botty, Heritage, and PH Roanoke on top of the Seminole schedule they played. Y’all both sound crazy 😂 none of those teams in the Winchester area play anybody. A lot of Sherando’s relevance a few years back was playing Martinsburg and now they don’t even play anymore.
I have to agree that KR would beat Glass and Amherst handedly this year. The Seminole aint't the traditional Seminole this year. The district as a whole is down outside of LCA. Remove LCA from the equation then top to bottom the NW district was better this year.

The disrespect is noted , Sherando and Handley might not be Dinwiddie or Phoebus , but fear nobody . Last time Salem had to leave and drive 3.5 hours North on 81 , they found out . I don’t claim this is any way one of the best Sherando teams , but they might surprise some teams .
The last time Sparty went up 81 3.5 hours they beat Tuscarora. Wtf are you talking about?

Playoff Format 25-26

I know a lot of folks complain about region imbalance and I'm not saying there cannot be improvements but regions are supposed to just that, geographically fitting... if some have more schools than others it is because of how diverse our state is as far as populations.
Absolutely. That's also why I am an advocate for having 7 or 8 classifications in Virginia. This would balance the number of teams in each region and also increase parity by having a smaller number of schools per classification.

As a Peninsula District alumnus, I'd recommend against a 10 district team. That 1 non-district game is for the birds. Having the flexibility to play 2-4 OOD games is a blessing. It allows you to play a variety of teams from different regions in the state. The poor Beach District doesn't see OOD unless it's scrimmages or playoffs and you've seen their success rate in the playoffs (or lack thereof).
I feel bad for the beach district. It's no way to tell how good they actually are playing the same schedule every year.

Sherando/JF will be a good game. JF hanging with LCA for a half and getting taken behind the shed for the second half confounds me. Not ready to discount their entire season because of two quarters but that game went from 15-6 to 50-6 in the blink of an eye. Early season is one thing, the last two quarters of the regular season is another.

regular season (neutral field)
[2024] Sherando (Stephens City, VA) 28 (62%), [2024] Washington [George] (Danville, VA) 22 (38%)

playoffs (neutral field)
[2024] Sherando (Stephens City, VA) 28 (62%), [2024] Washington [George] (Danville, VA) 22 (38%)
😂
If computer generated results are all you got to bring to the table then you got it big dawg!

For me, I’d love to see GW make it but I really have no cat in the race in 4D.
