4-D playoff match-ups now looking set...ish

In what realm do you have them beating Huguenot Varina or Dinwiddie by 17+ 😂😂😂😂😂. They know that game will be a war just like we know it. 17+ 🤣🤣🤣 yeah right
The original post said GW, Salem, or JF would be a better game against Phoebus. I understood that as Phoebus is going to be in the Championship game vs someone from Region D that beat the 804 champ. So at that point, the field would be whoever Phoebus plays in the championship. 🤣

Haha you said GW, Salem, or JF would be a better game against Phoebus. I understood that as Phoebus is going to be in the Championship game vs someone from Region D that beat the 804 champ. You said it, not me. :D
Nah Phoebus will host the winner of Regional D in state semis at Darling

Direct W/L comparisons without many shared opponents is very dangerous. You need to start examining the records of the opponents as well as examining SOS to help build a better picture of the road each team walked.

For example, Dinwiddie's opponents were 61-39, Cal Preps gives Dinwiddie the #2 SOS in all of C4 out of 51 teams while Kettle Run's opponents were 45-55, Cal Preps gives Kettle Run the #34 SOS in all of C3 out of 55 teams.

Total W/L record per opponent and sorted by SOS (in their respective class) for GW:

C2 Martinsville 48-51, tied for #16 SOS out of 49 teams

C3 Staunton River 56-44, #11 SOS out of 55 teams
C3 Tunstall 52-47, #32 SOS out of 55 teams
C3 Bassett 46-54, #35 SOS out of 55 teams
C3 Magna Vista 43-57, #37 SOS out of 55 teams

C4 Dinwiddie 61-39, #2 SOS out of 51 teams
C4 EC Glass 63-36, #3 SOS out of 51 teams
C4 Amherst 55-44, #8 SOS out of 51 teams
C4 Halifax 56-44, #26 SOS out of 51 teams
C4 Mecklenburg 50-48, #44 SOS out of 51 teams

Total W/L: 530-464

Total W/L record per opponent and sorted by SOS (in their respective class) for Sherando:

C3 Warren 63-37, #20 SOS out of 55 teams
C3 Fauquier 53-47, #29 SOS out of 55 teams
C3 Brentsville 51-49, #30 SOS out of 55 teams
C3 Kettle Run 45-55, #34 SOS out of 55 teams

C4 Liberty 61-39, #27 out of 51 teams
C4 Millbrook 54-46, #41 SOS out of 51 teams
C4 James Wood 48-52, #43 SOS out of 51 teams
C4 Handley 38-62, #48 SOS out of 51 teams

C5 Lightridge 60-40, #12 SOS out of 48 teams

C4 (WV) Jefferson 52-48, #9 SOS out of 21 teams

Total W/L: 525-475

So on the surface even the opponent W/L is evenly matched but when you take a look at SOS it becomes pretty clear that GW's opponents by and large played more difficult, successful opponents.

Yep. And Jefferson and James Wood might beat them too.
Kettle Run would smoke Glass and Amherst. Dinwiddie is considerably better than both Sherando and GW.
Glass beat Botty, Heritage, and PH Roanoke on top of the Seminole schedule they played. Y’all both sound crazy 😂 none of those teams in the Winchester area play anybody. A lot of Sherando’s relevance a few years back was playing Martinsburg and now they don’t even play anymore.

😂😂 It’s 100% going to be the 757 vs 804 in the ship! BOOK IT! Now whether it’s my Varina boys, Huguenot or them Country Boyz from the other side of Petersburg, it’s coming.

@VolNation85 @Phoebus Fan @General172011 Phoebus only beat Salem by 7 in the ship and IMO Salem will fair a lot better than losing by 17 to Phoebus. I’m a GW supporter and would love to see them go all the way, but realistically Salem is the only team in 4D that would compete with Phoebus.
Sounds good. We will see when whoever makes that 4 hour trip to Darling. But focus on Ireland St is the Churchland/Warhill winner and getting healthy. Just know the training wheels are off Rik Banks.

Y’all just be ready for the 804. WE COMING 😈

😂😂😂 I thought D played A in the semis. But nah Region A & B are on a collision course @ Liberty, barring some unforeseen circumstance. I can agree with your prior statement the winner of D and C will be beaten by 17+.

You’re telling the defending 3 time champs on a 45 game win streak to be ready? Lol ok

I do. I won’t go deep into my opinion unless the game comes up but yall are too small in trenches honestly. Good luck to Dinwiddie tho. Class act program with a class act coaching staff
Us being small in the trenches did not affect any game this season. And Phoebus in comparison to Matoaca, Prince George, GW, Dale & Maury size wise is small. GW Dale PG & Matoaca are HUGE in the trenches

What does Sherando playing Martinsburg have to do with relevance? Hidden Valley plays Salem every year. Does that make them relevant?

The disrespect is noted , Sherando and Handley might not be Dinwiddie or Phoebus , but fear nobody . Last time Salem had to leave and drive 3.5 hours North on 81 , they found out . I don’t claim this is any way one of the best Sherando teams , but they might surprise some teams .

If computer generated results are all you got to bring to the table then you got it big dawg!

For me, I’d love to see GW make it but I really have no cat in the race in 4D.

Sherando/JF will be a good game. JF hanging with LCA for a half and getting taken behind the shed for the second half confounds me. Not ready to discount their entire season because of two quarters but that game went from 15-6 to 50-6 in the blink of an eye. Early season is one thing, the last two quarters of the regular season is another.

Ooh, we doing some pre-playoffs smack talk? All right then.

If we're going to be bringing up ancient history, when's the last time Danville made it to the state finals? Or beat Salem? I know you all won a championship back in 1982 (before the parents of some of the players of today were born), and that's great and respectable and all, but if we're going to say that title is relevant to the teams today then James Wood should be considered a powerhouse and your argument that Sherando and Handley haven't played anyone would be moot. But that would be silly, wouldn't it.

Speaking of getting smacked by the "Widdie"-tier teams of the world, let's take a peek at Danville's record against Salem since that beatdown Sherando took. If MaxPreps is to be believed:

2021: 48-14 loss.
2020: 35-21 loss.
2019: 48-21 loss.
2017: 42-13 loss.
2014: 48-28 loss.

Even I'm not a big enough homer to say that Sherando is in a league with Salem, Dinwiddie, Phoebus, etc., but if Sherando isn't then Danville sure as hell isn't either, so I'm not sure where all this confidence is coming from. I don't doubt that Danville has played a tougher schedule than Sherando and Handley have this year, and I'd argue that's true most years given how strong the southern half of the state is, but that hasn't led to much success for Danville when it counts.

Sherando and Handley have good but not great teams this year, but both are better than they're being given credit for.

State Semis is Region A vs Region C and Region B vs Region D.

The last time Sparty went up 81 3.5 hours they beat Tuscarora. Wtf are you talking about?

I have to agree that KR would beat Glass and Amherst handedly this year. The Seminole aint't the traditional Seminole this year. The district as a whole is down outside of LCA. Remove LCA from the equation then top to bottom the NW district was better this year.

^ hey let’s bring up smack from almost 30 years ago when Salem won their first!

Seriously though, these are high school kids, start betting on who will win on paper and you’re sure to lose a bet.

All these programs should respect each other and know the volatility of high school football. Sherando, dinwiddie, gw, Phoebus. Handley, Varina.

Be safe on your travels to these games.

Ps: watch this and look how similar salems offense still runs. Very cool

Sherando and Handley are very good teams for sure.

I’m a Danville homer but I really don’t keep up with GW Football like I used to (I follow Varina mostly but I get around in the 804). I’ve seen GW play maybe 3 times in the past 5 years in person. Hope they can put the city back on the map and win a few playoff games. Good write up btw.. GW definitely has a lot to prove, especially with the Region going through Danville. Hope they can beat Glass and hopefully Salem, JF, Sherando or Handley. It’ll be huge for the program and community.
