Salem had a Jekyll and Hyde defense. Showed promise in some games and seemed to be clueless in in others. Unfortunately, Hyde Showed up against Sherando. Good luck next week.
I was unfamiliar with his game. Two words.

Gotcha. Yeah I’m not sure what the rules are for VHSL eitherHe literally hurdled the snapper. I’m not sure on the rules for high school(vhsl) in the nfl and college, the rule is you can’t make contact with the long snapper, so you can jump the snapper, but if the snapper raises a hand and touches you it’s a penalty, no contact, no penalty. Again, nit sure about vhsl. Maybe some ex or current refs can elaborate

I saw somewhere on a Winchester news article that the dude jumped over the lineman’s foot that was in the way of the hole and not his whole body. Idk as I wasn’t there
Maybe Phoebus is just that good? They are not playing anyone who’s putting up a fight. Easy path to states.
Idk they looked like they’re playing their best ball rn. Looked dominant in that second half against Patriot yesterday. Could be closer than you thinkWhile I’m here I’ll also add some context for those that would understandably be out of the loop with Forge’s program the last few years:
Old Brown retired after 2017. First two years under Young Brown went extremely well but then the program declined a bit. Still had some decent talent but nothing like they had throughout the 2010s and it really went downhill after covid along with the loss of some great assistants. Old Brown rejoined the staff last year as an assistant and things turned around immediately. I don’t know how much control he has with this team but I hesitate to call the turnaround a coincidence given Old Brown’s track record. I do think Young Brown is a very good coach nonetheless and Old Brown’s return also happened to coincide with a couple of talented classes now coming to fruition. Also, Joe Mangano (the long time North Stafford head coach when they were routinely making deep runs in Class 5 in the 2010s) joined the staff as a coordinator too & his sons both start. I don’t think it’ll be a coin flip kind of game with Smith the way it was in 16, 17 & 19 but this has been a pleasant surprise and I think bodes well for their future.

Yeah man this 2025 class has been special. You guys are a machine man
Flags killing Essex They could have been up another TD or 2. The 2 that gets me hot are the unsportsmanlike flags.Essex leads 14-0 at the half. It feels like it's a bigger lead than that. This game is being won in the trenches. Essex does need to limit the penalties, but other than that, it's been a dominant first half. Rapp gets the ball to start the 3rd, and they need some kind of answer if they want to get back in it
I saw it on a news post of a newspaper thing that I used to follow when I lived in WinchesterSalem rarely adjusts, as everyone here says Salem is going to Salem. It works more than it doesn’t, I would love to see some adjustment when what there doing doesn’t work but Salem is going to Salem. One side of the D line broke contain so many times last night, going too deep on pass rushing, getting caught up inside a couple of Sherando drives came from contain being broken. Kudos to Sherando coach for capitalizing on it. Great year for Salem all in all, they made it as far as I thought they would, was skeptical mid season because of the lack of defense..
