Former Lancaster Star Troy Henderson

Congrats to him. That’s an odd turn of events. He jumped from Fordham to the current #2 team in the Midwest Region and current sweet 16 participant in the NCAA tournament. Not knocking Fordham but that’s a major jump from them Tennessee. Did Tennessee or any other big program offer him but he picked Fordham? What’s the story behind that.

John Marshall’s Schedule

That has always been the rule, if you transfer somewhere and pay to go there with out changing residence to that schools zone you were 365. If you physically move then that is different. The rule looks absolutely no different than it has always been.
Thanks! I thought he was implying even if a kid moved they would have to sit out a year which would make zero sense. Parents relocate for jobs all the time and that would seem like a lawsuit making a kid sit out a year when they move in the attendance zone. I had heard chatter that kids that transfer would have to sit out playoffs which again seems absurd.

Softball: King William vs Nottoway Doubleheader

Lady Cavs take both games from the Cougars. In game 1, three Cavalier pitchers combined on a 2 hitter in a 3-1 victory.

In game two, the bats got rolling and KW won 14-4. Addie Kirby lead the way at the plate, going 4-4 with 1 HR, 3 runs, and 3 RBIs. Caroline Schoolar also added 3 RBI as well. #3 pitcher, Bristol Myers got the start and had a rough 2nd inning, as that's where all 4 runs were scored. But Payton Lewis and Jillian Smith both pitched in relief and only allowed 1 hit between them

Lady Cavs play at Rappahannock on Thursday. As for their schedule, they're definitely testing themselves in the regular season, just like last year. They'll play Class 4 Hanover, Class 4 Atlee, Class 6 Deep Run, Class 3 New Kent, Class 4 Mechanicsville, and Class 4 Patrick Henry in the regular season. The first 4 teams mentioned are all ranked in the top 5 of the current Richmond Times Dispatch top 10. The Lady Cavs are currently ranked 10th themselves, which mostly includes Class 4,5,and 6 schools.

Baseball: King William vs Nottoway Doubleheader

KW takes two games from Nottoway today. Game one was a 12-0 victory behind junior Henry Kite, who threw a one hitter. Kite is the #3 pitcher for KW, but he’s consistently hitting the upper 80s with his fastball, and has been clocked at 90.

In game two, #4 and #5 pitchers, Jack Longest and Grayson Reid combined on a 3 hitter as KW took the nightcap, 4-0.

Cavs move to 2-1 on the season and will look to avenge last week's 1-0 loss to defending class 1 champion Rappahannock, on Thursday.

John Marshall’s Schedule

Another scenario also going around is consolidating a couple of Richmond’s high schools. If that happens, the consolidated HS will go to Class AAA. Current players from the other high school not named John Marshall probably won’t even be on the new “consolidated “ hs team if that happens.
Well from my understanding the transfer policies rules are changing, if true kids will be staying home if they can't play until a year after transferring. Is this 💯.

New VHSL Rule

28A-7-2 Transfer Rule Exceptions (Submitted by Executive Director) (Recommended by a vote of 31-0 on February 4, 2025) PURPOSE: Delete the Wise County Exception which no longer is applicable.

. (1) A student shall become eligible for interscholastic competition after he/she has been enrolled in the school for 365 consecutive calendar days. Exception: If a student transfers during the summer and remains ineligible for the entire subsequent school year, he/she would become eligible beginning with the fall season of the following academic year.

If students transfer, they cannot play sports for a full academic year?

I understand the VHSL wants to tighten the rules, but if parents are forced to relocate for job or family reasons, why must the child pay that price? Am I misunderstanding it?
The wording on this needs to be elaborated upon

All State Teams Announced

Congrats to these young men. Auburn is going to miss Royal as well as some solid seniors. Auburn will likely, unless something changes or players really develop by leaps and bounds, might struggle next year more than at any time in the last decade. They have some solid junior High players coming up and some good 9th graders, but next year, they should struggle. GW loses a ton also. I can see Fort Chiswell and P. McCluer having a strong chance to be the top 2 dogs in 1C next year, ahead of GW and Auburn.
I agree. When I did my wayyy too early top 10 for next year post, I had Fort and PM as the top 2 in Region C next year.

2025 Playoffs/Format???

With that being said, what determines who host the State Semifinal games?

There has been several discussions. From winning percentage to power points. That's still a work in progress. At the state semi-final level, VHSL is responsible for that and I believe they will have someone calculate those points. There has been some talk about a neutral location as well but nothing solid as of today.
