VHSL Announces 2016 1A All-State Baseball Team
Fort Chiswell’s Bryson Booher selected 1A Player of the Year and Rappahannock’s Jim Bieger named 1A Coach of the Year
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA —The Virginia High School League 2016 Group 1A All-State baseball team has been selected. Fort Chiswell senior pitcher Bryson Booher was selected the 1A Player of the Year. Rappahannock head coach Jim Bieger was named 1A Coach of the Year after leading the Raiders to the state title. 14 individuals were selected to the all-state squad, which includes -- three pitchers, one catcher, four infielders by position, four outfielders, one DH and one utility player. Only first-team all-region selections are eligible for selection to the All-State team.
Each All-State selection committee is composed of eight baseball coaches (4 from each Region), and two athletic directors/directors of student activities (1 from each Region). Each Group has its own committee.
